Student killed in Mollahat road accident

Hridoy Molla (18) who was an HSC examinee was killed on the spot and his friend Niamul Hasan, the motor cyclist was injured when their motor cycle met a serious accident on Khulna-Mawa Highway at Chanderhat under Mollahat Upazila in Bagerhat at Sunday night, according to report received here. Deceased Hridoy Molla was the son of one Najim Molla of village Majhigati under Sadar Upazila in Gopalganj district and injured Niamul Hasan was the son of one Shahidul Islam Mridha, of the same village. Shaikh Abul Hasan, Officer-in-charge of Mollahat Highway Police Camp told the deceased and the injured teen age boys were two friends. At Sunday night they were returning home (Gopalganj) from Khulna by a motor cycle and when they reached the place of occurrence their motor cycle’s brake was failed and met the accident. As a result, Hridoy Molla was splashed up from the motor cycle on the Highway and was killed on the spot while Niamul Hasan was injured. On information police rushed to the place of occurrence, recovered the dead body and after completing the formalities handed over it (dead body) to the members of the family.

Health camp in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA: A two-day long health camp for the working lactating mothers began at the Hall Room of Public Library and Club of the town here on Tuesday. The District Administration and Department of Women Affairs jointly arranged the camp under the Working Lactating Mother Support Funding Programme to ensure welfare and development of women and children.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin formally inaugurated the healthcamp as the chief guest and civil surgeon Dr. AM Akhteruzzaman spoke at the inaugural function as the special guest. Presided over by deputy director of the department Nargis Jahan, the function was also addressed among others by additional police super Abdul Awal, panel mayor of Gaibandha Municipality Abdus Shahid and medical officer Dr. Atiar Rahman. DC Abdul Matin said the primary goal of the project is to safeguard the health of children and their mothers, reports BSS.

Pharmacy owner jailed, fined in Baraigram

Health Care Pharmacy owner Habibur Rahman Babu (35) has been jailed and fined at a mobile court in Baraigram of Natore district. Babu is a son of Iman Ali of Baraigram Uttarpara area. Local sources said, on the basis of secret information, UNO and Executive Magistrate Mst. Mariam Khatun raided the Health Care Pharmacy on Tuesday afternoon and arrested the pharmacy owner Babu along with drugs.
