Boro Paddy procurement starts

Boro Paddy collection from local farmers was inaugurated in Bijoynagar Upazila of Brahmanbaria . The programme was inaugurated by UNO AH Irfan Uddin Ahmed recently. In the current Boro season, the government will buy a total of 240 tonnes of paddy from the farmers of the upazila at a rate of Tk 1,080 per quintal or Tk 26 per kg for 3 tonnes per person, through transactions in bank accounts.

The government will buy 333 tonnes of cooked rice at Tk 40 per kg. The procurement will continue till December 31. Upazila Chairman Nasima Lutfar Rahman, Agriculture Officer, Upazila Food Controller Md. Nur Ali, OCLSD Md. Afsar Uddin, President of Upazila Rice Mill Owners Association Sudhabindu Saha, President of Press Club Vijayanagar Mrinal Chowdhury, members of electronic media and other farmers were present on the occasion.

Sheep distributed in Kapasia

Kapasia (Gazipur) Correspondent

A total of 120 sheep were distributed among the 60 families of 60 ethnic minorities at Upazila Livestock Department premises jointly organised by Kapasia Upazila Livestock Department and Veterinary Hospital in Gazipur under the Integrated Livestock Development Project. In addition, exhibition materials have been distributed among 23 CIG farmers under National Agriculture Technology Program Phase-II Project (NATP).

Simin Hossain Rimi MP, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Culture and daughter of Bangataj distributed sheep among the farmers and minorities as the chief guest under the chairmanship of UNO AKM Golam Morshed Khan. Among others present on the occasion were Upazila Parishad Chairman and District Awami League Vice President Adv Md. Amanat Hossain Khan, District Livestock Officer Dr. SM Ukil Uddin, Upazila Awami League President and former MP Muhammad Shahidullah, General Secretary Mizanur Rahman Pradhan, Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Asaduzzaman. Asad, Women Vice Chairman Raushan Ara Sarkar and Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Md. Rashed-uz- Zaman Mia.
