Seminar on consumer law held

A seminar on protection and implementation of consumer rights law was held at Tarash Upazila prishad conference room on Tuesday. UNO Mezbaul Karim presided over the function. Acting Chairman of the parishad Anwar Hossain Khan was present as the chief guest. Among others, Vice Chairman Upazila Parishad Lecturer Morzina Islam, Assistant Commissioner (Land), Laila Jannatul Ferdous, Agriculture Officer Lutfunnahar Luna, Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Monwar Hossain, Education Officer Akhtaruzzaman, Social Service Officer AKM Moniruzzaman, Fire Service Sub Officer Rezaul Karim, Upazila Sanitary Inspector Azgar Ali, officials of various departments of Upazila Parishad, SM Abdur Razzak Prominent freedom fighter, president of Bazar Banik Samiti, Co-President of Upazila Press Club Mohsin Ali, Organizing Secretary Shohell Rana Sohag, representatives of NGOs working in the upazila, Former General Secretary of Reporters Unity Khandaker Abdul Barik, and journalist M Chanowar Hossain Saju were present others.

Aman procurement begins at Ishwardi

Aman paddy and rice procurement programme were inaugurated at two government food warehouses of Ishwardi upazila on Tuesday by Alhaj Nuruzzaman Biswas MP of Pabna-4 constituency. Chairman of the Procurement Committee and Upazila Nirbahi Officer PM Imrul Kayes presided over the function.
The guests were Upazila Chairman Bir Muktijoddha Alhaj Naib Ali Biswas, Municipal Mayor Isaac Ali Malitha, Vice Chairman Atia Ferdous Kakli and Krishak League leader Murad Malitha.
Upazila Food Controller Shariful Islam, Ishwardi Warehouse Procurement and Transportation Officer Mahfuz-al-Asad, Muladuli CSD Manager, Rice Mill Owners Association President Zulmat Haider, General Secretary Shamsul Alam Biswas, District Council Member Shafiul Alam Biswas and others.
A total of 8,582 M.Ton of rice and 225 M.Ton of paddy will be procured from Ishwardi and Muladuli food warehouses in the current season. Paddy and rice will be collected till February 28.

3 minors killed in Sunamganj

Three people were killed as a microbus hit a truck at Shantiganj upazila in Sunamganj district on Sunday night. The deceased were identified as Ujwal Chandra, 12, son of Kajol Chandra, and his brother Kanak Chandra, 9, and Khokon Das. They all were residents of Mollargaon village under Jagannathpur upazila in the district.
Shantiganj Police Station officer in-charge (OC) Muqtadir said a microbus rammed into a standing truck in Dabor-Sichni area at about 8:00pm, leaving several passengers of microbus injured.
The injured were rescued and taken to MAG Sylhet Medical College Hospital where the on-duty declared three of them dead, he added.
