Farewell function held

A farewell of BIAM Laboratory School and College was held under Dupchanchia upazila of Bogra on Sunday. The farewell function was headed by principal of BIAM Laboratory School and College Ranjon Kumar Paul while UNO Saifur Rahman Khan was present as Chief Guest. Officer-in-charge of Dupchanchia police station Gopal Chandra Chakcrobarty, upazila education officer Sarowar Hossain, Higher Education Officer Eqramul Haque Sarker, Society welfare officer Jotish Chandra, member of the college Zakir Hossain, Azizul Haque and lecturer of English Department Julfikkar Hossain spoke among others.
5 drug peddlers held , recovers phensidyl seized

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-9) has arrested at least 5 drug peddlers and recovered huge amount of drugs including yaba tablets, phensidyls and mobile set following conducting drive throughout the Sylhet for last two days. Five different team of the elite forces conducted separate anti-crime drive at different places in Sylhet on Thursday recovered 50 pieces of yaba tablets, 213 bottles of phensidyls said a RAB release here yesterday. Besides, BGB in separate drive at Dholai river under Companigonj upazila in Sylhet district on Thursday and recovered total 213 bottles wine and phensidyls. A team of RAB-9 in a drive at 1pm on yesterday recovered two one-shooter guns in abandoned position from Lakatura tea garden area under Sylhet district.
Sylhet BCL men vandalised PWD offices
Activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League Sylhet city unit have vandalised PWD and Sylhet Registrary offices, torchard 8 vehicles and five shop afire during a factional clash of the ruling party’s student wing. On information, two units of Kotwali fire service and Kotwali police rushed to the spot and took the situation under control. Police sources said a chase and counter chase took place between the followers of BCL Sylhet unit President Shahriar Alam Samad and ex-joint convener of Sylhet city unit Pijush Kanti Dey on Wednesday night. Following the incident, the two groups again locked into clash around 10pm on Thursday night. Local sources said the followers of ex-joint convener were gossiping in the area when the president’s followers attacked them and vandalised several vehicles parked in front of the public works office.Pijush said he was in Companyganj while the clash took place.
He alleged that Samad along with Chhatra Dal attacked on his supporters and also set fire on a bike belonged to one of his followers. Samad said his followers brought a procession protesting abduction threat to Sajeeb Wazed Joy, ICT affairs adviser to the prime minister, on that night. He alleged that PijushÕs followers first attacked them when they reached the area. He also claimed that the followers of his counterpart set the vehicles on fire and put the blame on them.
Minor boy killed in Rangpur road crash
RANGPUR : A minor school boy was killed when a battery-run auto rickshaw crushed him in Chengmari area on the Gangachara-Gajoghontha road under Gangachara upazila here today, police said. The deceased was indentified as Nishat Hossain, 6, a student of class one of Chengmari Government Primary School in the same upazila. Nishat was going to his school on foot when the accident occurred. Being informed, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it for conducting autopsy at Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue. Officer-in-Charge of Gangachara Model Thana Abdul Mannan said that driver of the killer auto-rickshaw was arrested and a case filed in this connection, reports BSS.
