Training held, sewing machines distributed in Chandpur

A 50- daylong job-oriented training course on ‘computing and sewing’ was imparted to 50 Gipsy people living on country boats and members of the less developed communities and the training ended on Wednesday at the local Social Welfare Office. In this connection, a certificate giving ceremony was held on Wednesday at the DC’s Conference Room. Acting DC Abdullah Al Mahmud Jaman was the chief guest while Swadhinota Padak Winner Dr Syeda Badrunnahar Chowdhury, Additional SP Jahed Parvej Chowdhury, Sarkari Shishu Paribar Supervisor Ms Shamsunnahar and Upazila Sadar Social Welfare Officer Md Jamaluddin were the special guests on the occasion. Urban Social Welfare Officer Mahmudul Huque, Municipal Social Welfare Officer Kamruzzaman among others spoke on the occasion. District Social Welfare Office’s Deputy Director Rajat Shuvra Sarker presided over the function. It was told in the function that a total of 50 people mostly women took this training for self employment through income generation. Only 11 people took training on Computer Course for earning their livelihood while the rest 39 people took training on Sewing to maintain their livelihood. It was further informed in the function that of the trained people, a total of 22 are from Gipsy community, 10 members from Horijon Community, five each from fishermen and barbers’ families, four each from washer men and cobbler families. Then the Chief and the special guests handed over certificates and training allowance Tk 15 thousand and also Government grant Tk 10 thousand for rehabilitation money to each of the recipients. A total of Tk- 12 lakh 50 thousand was disbursed among the fifty trained people.  
Seminar on ‘Tagore’s women thoughts’ held at RU

A seminar on ‘Rabindranath Tagore’s women thoughts’ was held at Rajshahi University on Monday. RU Institute of Bangladesh Studies organized the seminar at conference room of the Institute around 11 am. RU IBS director professor Swarochish Sarker moderated the event while journalist Golam Murshid addressed it as chief discussant. Renowned short story writer and novelist Hasan Azizul Haque, former RU Economics department and Rabindra researcher professor Sanat Kumar Saha and students, teachers, officials of different departments, among others, were also present on the occasion. Addressing the event, Hasan Azizul Haque focused on Tagore’s women theory so that the new and young generation is able to gather knowledge about women and respect them properly.
Training for journo ends in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA: A three-daylong training for the journalists on Investigative Reporting was ended at the training room of Youth Training Center here on on Thursday . The training was began on Tuesday .The objective of the training is to develop the skills of the media persons about the investigative reporting and its techniques. Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) has arranged the training for the journalists who are working in different national and local dailies, electronic and online media. Director (Admin and Training) of PIB M. Illias Ali Bhuiyan formally inaugurated the training course this morning while junior trainer of the PIB Mohammad Shah Alam is coordinating the training. M. Illias Ali Bhuiyan in his inaugural speeches said there is no alternative to training to enhance professional skills as the training makes a person well equipped. He also urged the journalists to complete the training course with patience and apply the knowledge to be acquired from it in their professional life. A total of 35 journalists from the district took part in the training, reports BSS.
