3 injured by arson attacks in C’nawabganj
CHAPAINAWABGANJ :Three persons including a truck driver were injured in an arson attack on a potato laden truck at Nimtala Kathal area under Gomostapur upazila of the district on Wednesday night. The injured persons were identified as truck driver Firoj Kabir, 35, son of Omar Ali, helper Salimddin, 35, son of Alauddin and potato dealer Saheb Ali, 36, son of Setaur Rahman. All of them are from Jalmachmari village under Shibganj municipality of the district. Police and the victims said, the potato laden truck hails from Dhamoirhat under Naogaon district was going to Shibganj of Chapainawabganj district. When the truck reached at Nimtala Kathal area, a group of miscreants number about 10 to 12 detained the truck and hurled patrol bomb on it at about 11:30 pm. Hearing the hue and cry, local people rushed to the spot and rescued them and admitted to local health complex. Later they were sent to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in a critical condition. While contacted, Officer in Charge (OC) of Gomostapur police station Firoj Ahmed confirmed the incident, reports BSS.

Student beaten by cops hospitalised

Jordan police camp SI beat up a student of Joradah secondary school over a simple matter on Wednesday afternoon. The student is identified as Tanvir Hossain, 15. He is a student of class nine of Joradah secondary school. SI Tarun Biswas of the police camp beat up a student of class nine to injury and he has been admitted to Harinakundo local health complex. Assistant teacher Rashed Hossain of Joradah secondary school told that a cultural function was going on at the school complex on 4-00 pm on Wednesday . At the time police of the camp were enjoying the function. Some students were quarreling among themselves over seat arrangements.
Bus set afire in Juri

A bus was set afire by miscreants at Vhobanigaon bus stand area in Juri Upazila of Moulvibazar at around 3.30am on Wednesday during the countywide non-stop transport blockade, enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance. Quoting locals, Hamidur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Juri Police Station said miscreants set fire to a bus parked in the area. Informed, a fire fighting unit rushed in and put out the blaze. However, there was no report of any causality in the incident. A case was filed in this connection.
