World Thinking Day observed in Barisal

Barisal District Unit of Bangladesh Girl Guides Association on Sunday observed ‘World Thinking Day’. A discussing meeting on universal and indiscriminate rights of education and empowerment of girls and women to reduce poverty, early marriage, violence against women was held on the occasion.. There are about 400 girls from different wings of district BGGA participated at the Barisal Regional Guide House participated .World Thinking Day observed world-wide on February 22, also to mark the birth day of Lord Baden Powel and Lady Baden Powel, founder of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts movement. Recitations from religious books, discussion on message of the day, handicrafts fair, cutting birthday cake of the founders of the movement, collecting donations and taking oath for continuing movement till achieving the goal, included in the programme. Luthfun Nahar Afroj, District BGGA Commissioner, presided over the programme inaugurated by Wahida Ferdaus, president Barisal Ladies Club, as Chief Guest. Among others, Abul Kalam Azad, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rumana Aktar, administrative magistrate, Rabeya Khatun, district president Mohila Parishad, Begum Faizun Nahar, Fazilatunnesa Farid, Dinara Begum, Kazi Selina, Liza, Sumaia Tabassum of BGGA movement, addressed the programmes conducted by Sumaia Tabassum, regional trainer of BGGA.
Construction of drain, road repairing inaugurated

Constriction of a drainage system and renovation works of a road were inaugurated on Moazzem Hossain Swarani Road in Jummapara area under Ward No-23 here in the city yesterday. Councilor for Ward No-23 of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) Sekendar Ali formally inaugurated the development works at a ceremony arranged on the occasion in Jummapara area here as the chief guest.Female Councilor of RCC Hasna Banu from reserved seat, its Executive Engineer Azam Ali, Assistant Engineer Rakib Al Amin, President of Rangpur Crockery Traders’ Association Ali Hossain Mollah, Joint Secretary of City Shop Owners’ Association Moazzem Hossain Mithu and businessman Elias Ali Bablu attended the ceremony.
Science, technology fair begins in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA: A three-day “Science and Technology Fair-2015” began at the Independence Square on Sunday amid much enthusiasm. District administration has arranged the fair with the theme ‘Technology Can Alleviate Poverty’ marking the National Science and Technology Week. An inaugural ceremony was held on the fair premises with deputy commissioner M. Ehsan-e-Elahi in the chair.Whip of Jatiya Sangsad and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini attended the function as the chief guest while police super M. Ashraful Islam was present as special guest.The ceremony was also addressed, among others, by additional deputy commissioner (General) Abu Bakar Siddique, deputy director of local government section Moklesur Rahman, Sadar UNO Ashraful Momin Khan, general secretary of Gaibandha Science Club Association Dhiresh Chakrabartee and student Muhib Ahsan Chowdhury. One held with arms in Faridpur
FARIDPUR: Members of Rapid Action Battalion(RAB)-8 arrested an alleged terrorist in front of Land Office of Jhiltuli area of the town last night.They also seized a pistol and three bullets from his possession. On a tip-off, a team of RAB raided the area and arrested Md. Niaj Mahmud Sajal, 21, with the firearms, reports BSS.
18 bullets recovered in Bogra

Police recovered 18 rounds of bullets from a jungle in Dhunat upazila on Sunday night. Officer-in-charge Ziaur Rahman of Dhunat Police Station said on secret information, a team of police conducted a drive near Upazila Health Complex in the area and recovered 18 rounds of bullets wrapped in polythene around 7:00 pm. However, no one was arrested in this connection.f
