Physical work, diet can prevent breast cancer

Speakers at a seminar on breast cancer in Sylhet on Monday laid stress on regular physical occupation and regulated diet to reduce the risk of breast cancer. They said t awareness must be raised to combat breast cancer as the disease posed a high risk in the country at the seminar organised by Rotary Club of Sylhet Garden City at Sylhet Government Women’s College. Newly established Sylhet Medical University’s Vice-Chancellor Murshed Ahmed Chowdhury, as the chief guest, addressed the seminar chaired by Rotary Club of Sylhet Garden City president Abdus Samad Nazrul. Sylhet Medical University’s surgery faculty dean Dilip Kumar Bhowmik, Sylhet Government Women’s College principal Hayatul Islam Akanji, Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital’s gynecology teacher Fatema Yasmin and others spoke at the seminar.

Memorial meet on lawyer Shamoresh Roy held

Gonatantrik Party, Kishoreganj District Unit organised a memorial meeting on social worker and its party leader senior Adv Shamoresh Roy was held at Co-Operative Building on Monday afternoon. District Committee President Adv Dhulon Bhowhmic presided over the recall meeting. It was addressed among others by Former Bar President Adv Md. Ali Bhuiyan, District Awami League Vice-President and Former Bajitpur Upazila Chairman Adv Sheikh Noor-un-Nobi Badal, Gazi Enatur Rahman, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, Adv Maya Bhowmic, woman leader Sultana Rajia Khaled and Vice Chairman Masuma Akter.

Media orientation on livelihood improvement

The Livelihoods Improvement of Urban Poor Communities (LIUPC) project team of UNDP Bangladesh and Rangpur City Corporation jointly organized a media orientation on Monday at Rangpur City Corporation Conference room with a view to aware the print and electronic media on overall implementation strategy, process, target group, project component and locations of the project. The project is currently covering 20 City corporations/Porashavas and in Rangpur city it has been covering 15 wards out of 33. The project is directly and directly contributing to 50 indicators of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). There are five outputs of the project and key focus of the project are: develop and strengthen community-based organisation, develop savings habit of poor women. The honorable Mayor Rangpur City Corporation Md. Mustafizer Rahman presided over meeting as chef speaker, the National Project Director of LIUPCP Abdul Mannan (Joint Secretary Local Government) were present as Special gust. Mobarok Hossain Town Manager UNDP Bangladesh Rangpur City provided a brief summery and welcome speech in the event. About 60 media people of Rangpur city joined the orientation session.
