Nat’l Rat Elimination Campaign begins at Gopalganj

A month long National Rat killing Campaign- 2019 was began at Gopalganj yesterday. Upazila Agriculture Extension Department Gopalganj Sadar and District Agriculture Extension Department jointly organised the month long progrmme. On the occasion of the day, they brought out a colourful rally and chanting sloguns. The rally paraded main roads in the city. About 100 local farmers attended the rally. After rally a discussion meeting was held at Upazila Parishad Auditorium in the city. Md. Sadikur Rahman Khan,Upazila Nirbahi Officer(UNO),Gopalganj Sadar preside the chair. Where Ramesh chandra Brahma,deputy director (DD) agriculture,Gopalganj present as the chief guest. Abdul kadir Sarder, Additional Deputy Director (ADD) corp & Mizanur Rahman, additional deputy director (ADD) plant protection, khamarbari,Gopalganj were present as special guests respectively. Earlier Nitul Roy, Upazila Agriculture Officer(UAO),Gopalganj Sadar spoke of welcome addressed. Among others ,Harlal Madhu, deputy training officer(DTO),Khamarbari, Gopalganj, Azizur Rahman, local farmers, Nirunnahar, Woman Vice Chairman ,Gopalganj Sadar Upazila were spoken on the occasion.
Police blockade of BNP procession in Nilphamari

BNP could not hold a protest march demanding the release of Khaleda Zia at the police blockade in Nilphamari. Later, the leaders gathered in front of the party office.
Police on Wednesday blocked the procession from the party’s office at Sadar Upazila BNP at around 4pm on Wednesday. In the face of obstacles, the assembly meets in front of the office. District BNP convener Alamgir Sarkar, member secretary Zahurul Alam, general secretary of Sadar Upazila BNP Kazi Akhteruzzaman Jewel, and Sadar Upazila BNP presided over the meeting. AHM Saifulla Rubel, General Secretary of the District Volunteer Party, Morshed Azam, Maruf Pervez Prince, general secretary of the district was present. Sadar Upazila BNP general secretary Kazi Akhtaruzzaman Jewel said, the police had stopped the procession of the protest march, demand release of Khaleda Zia across the country. In the face of obstacles, the program was held in front of the party office. Officer-in-charge of the Sadar Police Station Mominul Islam said the BNP took out a protest march without the permission. To avoid chaos, the program was given before the party office.
Speakers Hunt begins at SUST

A two-day competition titled ‘Speakers Hunt’ began at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in Sylhet recently. SUST Speakers Club, an organisation of the university students, arranged the competition on the campus to enhance students’ competence in the English language. The club’s general secretary Kamran Hossain told New Age that North East University teacher Nuzhat Rikza, Bless International School principal John Paul Sergeant and Jatiya Sansgad’s assistant research officer Ahsan Tofayel were the judges in the contest. More than 100 undergraduate students were competing in the contest, he said. ‘This is the third time we are hosting this contest,’ Kamran said, ‘in the first two contests, only Shahjalal University students could participate, but this time, it’s open for all undergraduate students of all colleges and universities in Sylhet division.
