Newborn rescued from city garbage

A newborn baby girl wrapped in scarf was found alive in a garbage near the city’s Mohammadpur Janata Housing Kitchen Marker early Saturday.
Police rescued the baby based on information of a female cleaner of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) around 5:00am. The kid was rushed to Arman Health Care in the locality and later it was shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
However, the identity of the baby could not be ascertained by the police or the hospital authorities since Saturday evening.
She is now out of danger. She is undergoing treatment at Neonatal Care Unit (NCU) and Pediatric Wrrd No 211 at DMCH, Faruk Hossain, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Mohammadpur Police Station and appointed police official to take care of the unfortunate baby, told the New Nation on Saturday quoting the doctors.
“The cleaner hard the sound of crying of the newborn and went to the garbage pile and found the alive kid with blood and mucus. She informed the incident to the DSCC high official who informed the matter to police,” the SI said.
Being informed, local police rescued the baby and took her to the hospital for treatment, the police official said.
The baby girl is being treated by the Chief Medical Officer of the Pediatric Department of the hospital, he said.
The baby was shifted to DMCH after filing a General Diary (GD) with the
 
police station, the SI said.
We are investigating the incident to find out the cause of keeping the baby in garbage heap, he said.
Quoting doctors, DMCH Police Outpost In-Charge SI Bachhu Mia said, the baby’s weight is 3:5 Kg and is out of danger.
Earlier on March 11, a one-day old baby girl was rescued from a dustbin on the Ashulia-Mirpur-Beribadh Road in Shah Ali area in the city’s Mirpur.
