One held with firearms in C’nawabganj

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested an alleged illegal arms peddler with two pistols, three magazines and nine bullets from Shologarir Beel area under Gomostapur upazila in the district On Tuesday evening. The arrested person was identified as Md. Mominul Islam Montu, 25, son of Md. Mokhleshur Rahman of Shologari village under Niamatpur upazila in Naogaon district. RAB said, acting on secret information, an operation team of RAB-5 from Rajshahi Mollapara camp raided the aforesaid area around 5:30pm and arrested Mominul with the arms and ammunition. Later, the arrested person was handed over to the police of Gomostapur Thana with a case, RAB added.

Women Affairs Department, Kishoreganj arranged a health camp supported by Lactating Mother Aid Fund held at old Court building premises on Monday. DC Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury attended as chief guest Dr. Rowshawn Akhter Jahan, Deputy Director of Family Planning, Md. Kamruzzaman Khan Deputy Director of Social Service and Senior District Information Officer Shamsul Haque were attended as special guests. It was addressed among others by CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, Women leader Bilkis Begum, Mohila Awami Leader Shaheen Sultana Eti and Sadar Upazila Vice-Chairman Masum Akter. DC Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury and others guest distributing health box among the 400 women and children.

Medical camp of Kidney Foundation held

Sylhet Kidney Foundation celebrated its first founding anniversary by arranging a daylong medical campaign at the temple of Daldali Tea Garden near Barshala in Sylhet recently . The purpose of the campaign was to provide free healthcare services among the unprivileged tea garden workers. More than 200 patients, including women and children were provided treatment and necessary medicines free of cost during the campaign, said the campaign organisers. Physicians of the Sylhet Kidney Foundation including its Director Kazi Mushfique Ahmad, Zubayer Ahmad Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer Farida Nasrin, Consultant Nazmus Sakib, and Mostafa Shah Jamal Chowdhury provided treatment to the patients. Nurse Suraiya Akter Joli, Reshma Akter, Ananya Dev Nath, Abdul Hannan, Kamal Ahmad and Pritam Benarjee assisted the physicians during the daylong medical campaign, the organisers said. Among others, the foundation project manager Ubayed Bin Basit Suman, physician Golam Kibria, local union council member Abul Kashem Chowdhury, Daldali Tea Garden panchayet committee president Mintu Das, and Daldali Juba Samaj president Manoranjan Das, also attended the programme.
