Husband arrested for killing wife in Gournadi

Police on Sunday early morning arrested Dulal Sardar, 48, as an accused for killing his second wife Nazma Begum. Sub Inspector Tarikuzzaman, investigation officer of the case lodged with Gournadi police station of Barisal district , said Bishai Fakir from Gerakul village of Gournadi and father of the victim Nazma Begum, 31, as complainant alleged that Dulal Sardar , son of Rashid Sardar of South Alekanda area of Barisal city, married Nazma in 2013 concealing the fact of his first marriage.Then he renting the house Poultry Halim at Batajor area of Gournadi on Barisal-Dhaka highway kept Nazma there and spent nights with her in different times.On Friday night Dulal torturing Nazma brought to Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital in critical condition, but attending physician declared her as dead. Then Dulal leaving the dead body fled from the hospital and Barisal Kotwali police sent the dead body to SBMCH morgue for autopsy on Saturday.The family members of the victim Nazma after informed about the matter lodged a murder case against Dulal on Saturday with Gournadi police station and police driving operation arrested him on early Sunday.
Muhith urges Sylhet Chamber to hold pre-budget discussion

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith suggested the leaders of Sylhet Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) to arrange pre-budget discussion involving businessmen of all strata in Sylhet on Friday. The finance minister made the suggestion when members of the newly formed board of directors of SCCI called on him at his Hafiz Complex residence in the city.SCCI President Salah Uddin Ali Ahmad told BSS that the finance minister welcomed the new board of directors and advised holding a pre-budget discussion meeting.Led by the president, the SCCI delegation included Senior Vice-President M Mamun Kibria Suman, Vice-President Masud Ahmed Chowdhury and Directors M Hijkil Guljar, Khandaker Sipar Ahmed, M Saidur Rahman, M Layes Uddin, Ejaj Ahmad Chowdhury, Abu Taher M Shoyeb, Enamul Quddus Chowdhury, Nurul Islam, M Emdad Hossain, Amiruzzaman Chowdhury, Ehteshamul Haq Chowdhury, Mukib Hossain Chowdhury, Abdur Rahman and Bashirul Haq.
Youth found dead near Madhu fair in Jessore

Keshabpur police on Sunday night recovered the body of a youth in hanging condition from near the Madhu fair at Sagardari, the birthplace of Michael Madhusudan Dutt, said Abdul Jalil, officer in -charge, Keshabpur police station. The dead was identified as Ashraful Islam, 27, vendor of a bettle-leaf stall and son of Asgar Ali of Sagardari village under Keshabpur upazila in Jessore. The OC told newsmen that the youth committed suicide hanging from a tree near his residence following a feud with his wife on Sunday night. But locals suspect that he was killed by rivals. The body was taken to Jessore Medical College Hospital after recovering it from the spot.
Four bomb-makers held in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: Police rounded up four members of bomb-making team belongs to Islami Chhatra Shibir, student-wing of Bangladesh Jamaate Islami, in the cityon Sunday night. Jahidur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Detective Branch (DB) of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP), told the local newsmen that a DB team carried out a raid in Rajpara area and picked them up. The team also recovered huge cocktails, petrol bombs and cocktail and bomb making ingredients from their possessions. Quoting the preliminary confessional statement Md Shamsuddin, Commissioner of RMP, said the bombs and cocktails which are being used in subversive activities at different areas of the city were made and supplied by them.
