The Postharvest Technology Division of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) and New Vision Solution Ltd. have jointly organised an inception workshop titled “Postharvest Management, Processing and Marketing of Jackfruits” yesterday .The workshop was financed by Krishi Gobeshona Foundation (KGF). BARI Director (Training, Communication) Zebun Nessa was present as chief guest at the workshop. Director (Research) Dr. Md. Abdul Wohab chaired the workshop while Director (Planning, Evaluation) Md. Habibur Rahman Sheikh, President of Bangladesh Agro Processors Association AFM Fakhrul Islam Munshi attended the ceremony as special guests. Chief Scientific Officer of Postharvest Technology Division Dr. Md. Miaruddin addressed the welcome speech while Principal Scientific Officer of the Division Md. Hafizul Haque Khan gave the vote of thanks. Senior Scientific Officer of Postharvest Technology Division Dr. Md. Golam Ferdous Chowdhury and Managing Director of NewVision Solutions Ltd. Tareq Rafi Bhuiyan present the keynote papers at the workshop. Heads of the divisions, senior scientists, officers, representatives from Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), universities, agro processing companies, retailers, NGOs, among others, were also present on the occasion.
One held with illegal arms, ammunition in Dinajpur
DINAJPUR : Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) arrested an alleged illegal arms and drug trader from village Ator Barogram in Kotwali Thana of Dinajpur district on Monday night. “An operational team from Dinajpur Camp of RAB-13 arrested the man with illegal arms, ammunitions and Yaba tablets from the spot,” said a press release issued today by Media Officer at RAB-13 battalion headquarters here ASP Khondker Golam Mortuza. The elite force seized a foreign origin pistol with a magazine and three rounds of live bullets, 240 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets, cash money and a mobile phone set from the possession of the arrested person. The arrested person is Joynal Abedin, 60, son of late Jahir Uddin of village Ator Barogram in Kotwali Thana of Dinajpur district. During primary interrogation, the arrested person admitted his involvement with terrorist activities, drug and illegal arms trading for a long time. After filing two separate cases against the arrested persons, the elite force handed him over to Dinajpur Kotwali Thana police today, the release added, reports BSS.
