Child drowns in flood water in Gafargaon

A child drowned in flood water at Gafargaon Upazila in Mymensingh. The incident took place at Charmoslanda village of Kandapara in the Upazila on Wednesday afternoon.
 The deceased was identified as Tarek Mia (7). He is a second grade student of Charmoslanda Kandapara Government Primary School and the son of Badar Uddin of Charmoslanda Mudipara village. According to locals and family sources, Tarek and his two classmates were called to bathe in the flood water at Kandapara Hakir bari cannel when they returned home at around 12pm .
Experience , learning sharing meet held in Barishal

A day-long meeting for exchanging views and sharing experience and learning methods among the excluded dalit and mainstream communities held on Saturday at Kheyali Group Theatre auditorium of the city. The programme styled as Jubo Sampriti (youth friendship) was jointly organised by Actionaid Bangladesh and Reach to unreached(RUN), development organisations for narrowing distances among the different classes of the society. Dr. Habibur Rahman, human rights activists, presided over the programme and Rafiqul Alam, executive irector RUN, gave the welcome address in the the programme conducted by Fatematuz Johra, project cordinator of RUN. Sixty-five representatives from eight youth and development organisations of excluded dalit and mainstream communities pariticated in the programme. Among others A H Toufiq Ahmed, divisional chief of UNICEF, Principal Gazi Zahid Hossain, Professor Shah Sajeda, Advocate Hiron Kumar Das Mithu, Shahida Sultana, Shuvangkar Chakraborty, Gopal Sarkar, Mridul Kazi, Asif Iqbal, Mehedi Hasan Ratul, Injamul Safin, development activists, Rebeka Sultana, women entreprenuer, Bristi Das, dalit community activists, addressed the programme.
FBCCI distributes relief in Sunamganj

FBCCI President Sheikh Fazle Fahim on Tuesday distributed relief materials among the flood hit people of Jamalpur and Sunamganj districts. The FBCCI Leaders distributed relief goods at Lalpur Village of Gourarang Union of Sunamganj. Sheikh Fazle Fahim, Senior Vice President, Vice President and the Directors took part in the distribution programme. Deputy Commissioner of Sunamganj Abdul Ahad, Superintendent of Police Barkat Ullah Khan, ADC General, TNO and the local Business leaders were also present. Relief materials were distributed in cooperation with Sunamganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The FBCCI has taken special programme to stand besides the flood affected people of the country.
Youth commits suicide at Kanaighat
A youth has reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself with a tree at Dorzimati village under Kanaighat upazila in Sylhet recently . Police recovered the body that day. The deceased was identified as Alamgir Hossain, 22, son of Abul Hossain of Tinchhati Noyagram of the upazila. He was rickshaw puller by profession. Locals said that Alamgir left his home in mid night. He did not return home. The locals saw his hanging body in the morning. Local UP member Saidur Rahman informed the matter to the police. Later, the police recovered the body and sent it Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
One electrocuted in Magura
Magura: An easy-bike technician was electrocuted at Barasia village in Sadar upazila on Sunday morning. The deceased was identified as Haji Munsi, 30, of the village. Sirajul Islam, officer-in-charge of Magura Police Station, said Haji came in touch with a live wire while connecting his easy-bike to a charge around 10am. Later, he was taken to Magura Sadar Hospital where the doctor pronounced him dead. An un-natural death case was filed in this connection, the OC added, reports UNB.
