Police distributes fire-extinguisher for vehicles in Barisal

Barisal Metropolitan Police authority on Saturday distributed fire-extinguisher for long route vehicles at Nathullabad central bus terminal of Barisal city to face arson attacks. Discussion meeting, training and drill exercise for the road transport workers about processes of preventing and combating arson attacks also arranged on this occasion. The programme was addressed by Shoibal Kanti Chowdhury, commissioner, Zillur Rahman, deputy commissioner of BMP, Aftab Hossain, President, District Bus Owners Association and City Sramik League. The speakers stressed installing fire-extinguishing equipments in all road transports and discussed about combating processes of arson attacks on the road transports by the miscreants to ensure safety and security of the passengers, goods and vehicles.At the first phase 10 fire-extinguisher equipments were distributed among the long-route vehicles plying from this terminal of Barisal. Besides Abdur Rouf, deputy police commissioner BMP, also addressed before the bus owners and workers at Rupatali central bus terminal of the city on Saturday afternoon. In that meeting discussion was held about safety, security of the passengers and vehicles facing arson attack and threats against road transports.
Gas cylinder explosion injures two in Wazirpur
Two persons were injured by explosion of gas-cylinder while pouring that into balloons for selling at Joyoshri under Wazirpur upazila of Barisal on Saturday morning. The injured two victims were identified as gas-balloon-seller Abul Hashem, 50, and Abu Sayeed, 22, from Churamonkathi of Jessore district, said Nurul Islam, Wazirpur police station officer in charge. The victims were recovered from the spot and sent to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital after the explosion, Nurul Islam, OC Wazirpur PS told. The gas cylinder blasted after becoming extremely heated for over-use and water threw on it to cool that, quoting witnesses’ police said Abul Kalam, ward master of SBMCH, said among the admitted injured, condition of Abul Hashem was severe and critical.
Man held with 300 bottles of phensidyl in Satkhira
SATKHIRA: Members of the Detective Branch of police arrested a man along with 300 bottles of contraband phensidyl syrup from Bakal area of Sadar upazila on Sunday afternoon. The arrested was identified as Shafiqul Islam, 26, a truck helper. On a tip off, a team of the DB went to Bakal area and stopped a fish carrying truck around 1pm. Searching the truck they recovered 300 bottles of phensidyl. Police arrested the helper and seized the truck. Satkhira DB sub-inspector Kashem confirmed the incident, reports UNB.
