Minor Yaba peddler held, Yaba recovered

Kochua Thana Police, on a tip off, arrested a minor drug peddler and recovered from his possession 94 pills of Yaba at Bolra village under Gohat South union under Kochua Upazila on Tuesday. His name is Sujon,12, son of Md Kadirullah- a resident of Bolra village of the Upazila. He was produced before the court on Tuesday afternoon that ordered Kochua Thana to send the accused minor boy to the Juvenile Crimes Correction Centre in Gazipur. Accordingly, the boy, escorted by Kochua Thana Police, was sent to Gazipur today Wednesday. Contacted OC Kochua Thana Waliullah Oli told the correspondent that the boy was used by some drug peddlers to sell drugs in the areas. Acting on a tip off, Sujon was picked up and yabas were recovered from his possession from Bolra area. A case under Drugs Control Act was filed against the minor boy. He was produced before the court on Tuesday that sent him to Juvenile Crimes Correction Centre, Gazipur.
Nine illegal establishments removed from Govt School premises  
A Mobile Court in an eviction drive, demolished and evicted nine illegal shops and establishments from the land of a Government Primary school in Faridganj Upazila on Wednesday afternoon. The owners of the shops and other establishments, in a syndicate, erected nine shops and establishments one after the other for the last few years occupying the land of Sholla Government Primary School in Subidpur union under Faridganj Upazila without considering the interest of the students of the school. Despite repeated requests and appeals, the shop- owners paid little heed to the school authorities’ requests. Now an academic bhavan has been allotted by the Government for the school but for want of open space and land, it could not be built due to these nine shops and establishments that illegally occupied huge land of the school hampering the academic activities of the tiny several hundred learners. .. Then UNO Faridganj Md Ali Afroze and Executive Magistrate and AC (Land) Momota Afrin Mira conducted a survey and then arranged a Mobile Court and demolished and removed the illegal shops and establishments from the school premises.. Contacted, Upazila Education Officer Md Moniruzzaman has told the New Nation correspondent that the Government has allotted an academic bhavan for the school. Contacted the headmistress of the school Khodeza Begum has said, nine shops, that were established illegally occupying the land of the school, were evicted by the Mobile Court..
Child drowns in Kurigram River

A child drowned in the Nilkomor river in Phulbari upazila of the district on Friday noon. The deceased was identified as Jisan Islam, 11, son of Moniruddin of Kutichandrakhana village under the upazila. Local people said Jisan drowned while he was taking bath in the river with some of his friends this noon. On information, his family members rescued him and taken to Phulbari Hospital where the duty doctors declared him dead, hospital sources confirmed.
8 smokers fined Taka 2,050 in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: A mobile court here today fined eight people Taka 2,050 on charge of smoking in public places at Rajshahi Railway Station recently. The mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Tasnim Jahan conducted a raid at the railway station and caught them red handed while smoking in the public place, police said. During the mobile court, Magistrate Tasnim Jahan told the attending journalists that smoking in the public place is a criminal offense. “Such raid will continue in future to keep the public places free from smocking,” she said.
