B M College students protested excessive fees

Students of Barishal Government Brojo Mohun College on Sunday noon brought out an agitation procession in the campus protesting excessive fees and charges for honours students. Students of different departments at first assembled at zero point area of the campus around 11:00 am. Then they held a rally forming human chain and brought out an agitation procession in the campus.Rafikul Islam, one of the honours third year students of arts faculty, said they have to pay about Tk. 2000 in the name of development, library, transport, magazine, student’s cabinet of the college. As there are no visible activities of those issues, so why should we pay for those, questioned Arif Ahamed another agitated student of commerce faculty of the college. It’s very difficult for our guardians to pay these unnecessary excessive amounts, told Trishna Ahamed, a student of social science faculty of the college.
Snakebite kills one in Narail
NARAIL: An eight-year old girl died in snakebite at Shamuk Khola village of Noagram Union under Lohagara Upazila here on Sunday. Chairman of Noagram Union parishad Zahidur Rahman said venomous snake bite Achiya, daughter of farmer Faruk Molla, last night when she was in sleep.
But, family members could be confirmed about the incident when she fell sick critically in the morning. Achhiya was immediately taken to Narail Sadar Hospital. But, she died on way to hospital, repots BSS.
Workshop on onion storage system held at BARI

The Farm Machinery and Post-harvest Process Engineering (FMPE) Division of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) organised a completion workshop on “Development of solar energy powered air ventilated natural onion storage system” supported by Ministry of Agriculture and BARC special fund on Sunday. The main objective of the completion workshop is to increase the storage life of onion using solar powered forced air ventilated storage system rather than traditional storage method of onion. Director General of BARI Dr. Abul Kalam Azad was present as chief guest at the completion workshop. Director (Research) Dr. Md. Abdul Wohab chaired the workshop while Director (Training & Communication) Zebun Nessa, Director (Planning & Evaluation) Dr. Babu Lal Nag and Director (TCRC) Dr. A. K. M. Shamsul Hoque attended the ceremony as special guests. Chief Scientific Officer and Co-Principal Investigator of the project Dr. Ayub Hossain presided over the inaugural session. The Technical presentation is presented by Scientific Officer and Principal Investigator of the project Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Gulandaz.
