Meeting on skill of Harijan people held in Saidpur

A seminar coordination meeting was held with the officials of Upazila Health Department regarding the efficiency and confidence building of the Harijan people implemented by the Devi Chowdhurany Rural Development Center (DCCPU), a private volunteer organization in Nilphamari. The meeting was organized at Saidpur Upazila Health Complex Hall room in the technical assistance of the International Organization for DFID-UKAID and the Foundation for human on Tuesday. Saidpur Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Md. Mir Hossain was present as the chief guest. Presided over by Medical Officer of Saidpur Upazila Health Complex Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman.
At the meeting, DC-HC project coordinator, Abdus Samad gave the address of his greetings as well as highlighted various issues related to the health of the Harijans.
Essay competition for female students held at Taraganj
RANGPUR: An essay competition on ‘Role of family and society to ensure equal rights and security protection of girl child’ was held on Wednesday at Kashiabari School and College in Taraganj upazila in the district. Rangpur unit of ‘Pollishree’, an NGO, organised the competition under its ‘Creating Spaces Project’ for 41 secondary level female students of Kashiabari School and College and Hatibandha Bilateral High School. The event was arranged to create awareness among girl children on their rights, preventing child marriage, trafficking and violence against them, sexual harassment and negligence toward them to make school-oriented for their smooth education. On the occasion, Project Officer of the ‘Creating Spaces Project’ of ‘Pollishree’ Sajedul Islam Sujan presided over a discussion-cum-prize distribution function moderated by its Project Coordinator Shahnaz Pervin. Headmasters Mamunur Rashid of Kashiabari School and College and Faruk Hossain of Hatibandha Bilateral High School addressed as guests of honour.
Call to create awareness on RTI Act
KHULNA: Speakers at a view-exchange meeting here on Tuesday highly praised the government for inclusion of the RTI Act in the textbooks of ninth and tenth grades, expressing hope that it would create awareness among the people about the law. They said journalists should take the advantage of RTI Act to get information for dissemination of news and media can also play a vital role in creating awareness among the people about the necessity of the RTI law. They made the observations while addressing a meeting titled ‘Right to Information (RTI) Act and Mass Media’ at the conference room of Khulna Circuit House. Khulna Regional Information Office (RIO) organised the meeting. With deputy chief of RIO Md Javed Iqbal in the chair, the meeting was addressed by Treasurer of Khulna University (KU) Professor Sadhan Ranjan Ghosh as the chief guest. President of Khulna Union of Journalists Mahbub Alam Sohag and Khulna Press Club President (KPC) Habibur Rahman addressed the event as special guests. Assistant Information Officer Atiqur Rahman delivered the welcome speech, reports BSS.
Workshop on coastal and marine fisheries held in Bhola
BHOLA: A workshop on coastal and marine fisheries was held in the district on Tuesday. District Fisheries office in Bhola organized the workshop aiming to conserve coastal and marine fisheries for boosting fish production in the country. Officials of different organizations concerned, project director of the Sustainable Coastal and marine Fisheries Project Dr Oliur Rahman and representatives of district fisheries associations, among others, were present at the workshop. Quamrul said the Sustainable Coastal and marine Fisheries Project is being implemented in 16 coastal district to increase fish production alongside promoting livelihood of coastal people, reports BSS.
