Food Fair held at BARI
The Tuber Crops Research Center of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) has arranged a rally and Foodfair on Potato and Sweet Potato yesterday. A rally was brought out in front of the administrative building of the Institute in the morning led by BARI Director General Dr. Abul Kalam Azad. Directors, scientists, officers, staff and labors of the Institute took part in the rally, said a press release. After the rally, a brief discussion meeting was held at the seminar of the Institute. Director (Tuber Crops Research Center) Dr. A. K. M. Shamsul Haque was presided over the function while BARI Director General Dr. Abul Kalam Azad was present as the chief guest. Director (Research) Dr. Md. Abdul Wohab, Director (Training , Communication) Zebun Nessa, Director (Planning , Evaluation) Dr. Babu Lal Lag, Director (Horticulture Research Center) Dr. Abeda Khatun, senior scientists, officers, among others, were present on the occasion. Later, the guests visited the stalls of Food Fair and tested different food items that made by potato and sweet potato. They also expressed their satisfaction about the foods.
Int’l Programme on Education held

Sylhet Divisional Round of International Programme on Education was held at Dakshin Surma Nasiba Khatun Girls High School recently. GEIST International Foundation’s President Biplob Kumer Dev inaugurated the event at the chief guest While GEIST Sylhet Divisional Director Abdul Malik Raju presided over the event. Around 200 students and a good number of teachers from 20 different educational institutions of Sylhet division joined the event organised by GEIST Innovation and Leadership Center. The programme will focus on promoting leadership and enhancing english language skills among the students. The event will be held in eight divisions of the country phase by phase and finally eight students will be selected for joining an International Leadership Education Olympiad to be held in Vietnam at the end of this year. Participants will have to undergo a test on education, panel discussion and presentation based on English and global affairs. Students of grade 3 to 12 are eligible for the competition.
Arms, ammo recovered in C’nawabganj
CHAPAINAWABGANJ: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered firearms and ammunitions from frontier Refugeepara area here recently. BGB said, on secret information, a special patrol team led by BGB commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel SM Salahuddin raided Refugeepara area at around 11:20 pm and seized a motorcycle along with fire arms and ammunitions. They also recovered four one shooter guns, two 9mm pistols, three magazines and 16 rounds of bullet from the motorbike, reports BSS.
