Properties worth Tk 5 lakh gutted in Morrelganj

Properties worth Tk.5 lakh were gutted when a stationary cum grocery shop belonging to one Razzak Shaikh of village Madhya Kalikabari under Morrelganj Upazilain Bagerhat district recently, according to a delayed report received here. Source added that the affected shop-keeper that at the night at 9 pm his son closed the shop and went home. But in the early hours being informed of the matter he rushed to the spot and found that his shop with its all belongings including TV, freeze and cash Taka were completely burnt to ashes. According to him, the loss of fire was estimated at Tk.5 lakh.
Training on quality herbal product held at Rangpur
A training programme on necessity of GMP gudline to produce quality product of herbal productsand herbal medicine was held at Rangpur Modern Herbal Auditorium recently, says press release. The training programme jointly organised by the Bangladesh Herbal Products Manufacturing Association (BHMPA) and Business Promotion Council (BPC) of commerce ministry. In the A training programme Dilgir Alam, deputy director of youth development department, Rangpur was present as chief guest presided over by Shibbrat Roy, vice president of BHMPA. Jasim Uddin Choudhury former director of BCSIR, AKM Zakaria former director of Rural Development Academy (RDA), Bogura and Fatema Binte Rahman, Programme Executive of BPC were also present as special guests. More than 100 participants from Rangpur division took part the training session.
Field Day on hybrid sweet gourd held
GAIBANDHA: A field day on the harvest of hybrid sweet gourd was held at Chinirpotol char under Shaghata upazila in the district on Friday with a call to disseminate the farming of the variety to other chars people. On Farm Research Division of BARI (Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute), Gaibandha office arranged the function under the project of Strengthening of Horticulture Research and Dissemination of Horticulture and Field Crops in Char Land funded by government of Bangladesh. Project director (PD) Dr Mohammad Abu Taher Masud addressed the function as the chief guest while general secretary of Gaibandha Press Club Sarker M Shahiduzzaman was present at the event as special guest. With senior scientific officer Dr Abdullah Al Mahmud in the chair, the function was addressed, among others, by scientific officers Dr Jahangir Alam and Eakramul Haque and farmer Akbar Ali, reports BSS.
