Two held in murder case at Durgapur

A case was filed with Durgapur police station accusing 25 people over the death of Atikur Rahman Atik at Durgapur upazila in Rajshahi. The victim’s father Abu Bakkar filed the case on Thursday accusing 10 named and 15 unnamed persons. Following the murder, police already arrested two persons and they were sent to jail through the court order. The arrestees are- Johurul Islam Liton, 32, son of late Abul Khayer and Dulal Hossain, 33, son of Abdul Hamid. They are residents of Jhaluka village under the same upazila. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Durgapur police station Abdul Motaleb confirmed the matter and said that a team of police recovered Atik’s body from a pond adjacent to Jhaluka Primary School on Wednesday evening. A case was filed already in this regard accusing 10 named and 15 unnamed persons. After the case filing, police arrested two accused and they are trying continuously to arrest other accused, also said OC Abdul Motaleb.
Yaba seized in Benapole

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 9,300 piece of Yaba pills from Agrovulot border area In Benapole Police station on Monday night. .Lt Col Imran H Sarker, commanding officer of BGB-21 battalion , said Being informed that a gang of smugglers was bringing a consignment of Huge Yaba tablets India a team of BGB conducted a drive there and seized 9,300 piece contraband pills worth Tk 23 lakh. Later, a case was filed with Benapole Port Police Station in this connection.
Indian prisoner dies in Jashore jail
JASHORE: An Indian citizen accused in a gold smuggling case died of cardiac arrest at Jashore Central Jail on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Sanzid Bharma, 48, son of Mahindar Bharma of New Delhi. Jailer Abu Taleb of Jashore Central Jail said Sanzid has been suffering from cardiac disease. “When Sanzid felt chest pain around 2:00 pm on Tuesday, the jail authorities took him to Jashore General Hospital, but he died on the way to the hospital,” said the jailer. On December 2, 2017, Benapole Port Police sent Sanzid to the central jail in the gold smuggling case. Meanwhile, Indian authorities have been informed about his death, said the jailer, reports UNB.
Man’s bullet-hit body recovered in Cumilla
CUMILLA: Police recovered the bullet-hit body of an unidentified young man from an embankment along the Gomti river in Debidwar upazila recently. Locals spotted that the body in Bhirallachar area in the morning and informed police, said Sheikh Md Selim, additional superintendent of Debidwar police. Police recovered the body and sent it to Cumilla Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy, he added, reports UNB.
