Man electrocuted in Chandpur

A day labourer died after being electrocuted while cutting the branches of a tree at Badiuzzaman village in Faridganj Upazila on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Shah Alam, 42, son of Md Sirajul Islam of the village. Shah Alam came in contact with a live electric wire lining through the tree branches and fell off the tree in the afternoon, leaving him severely injured, said Harunor Rashid, officer-in-charge of Faridganj Police Station. Later, the injured was rushed to Faridganj Upazila Health Complex where the duty doctor declared him dead.
Two detained with ten kg of cannabis at Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested two traffickers named Monirul Islam (40) and Rubel (25), including ten kg of cannabis in Benapole. They were detained from Raghunathpur border on Friday morning. Detained Monirul Islam the son of Ali Ahmed of Ghiba village in Bahadurpur union of Benapole port police station; Rubel is the son of Nazrul Islam of Manikia village of the same police station. Benapole Raghunathpur camp commander of 49 BGB Battalion, Naib Subedar Haradhan said that on the basis of secret information, the operation was conducted near the main pillar at 21 of the border. From there, they were arrested with ten kg of cans.
Heart campaign held in Kishoreganj

National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh arranged a colourfull rally, discussion on free heart camp marking the heart campaign in Kishoreganj on Friday. A discussion on heart disease in Bangladesh was held at Ideal School campus on Friday noon. Civil Surgeon Dr. Habibur Rahman was attended as Chief Guest. It was addressed among others by Prof Dr. Farook Ahamed, Prof Dr Mohiuddin Ahamed, Prof Dr Shohel Reja Chowdhury, Dr Badiuzzaman, Dr Mohafuzur Rahman and Golam Farook Master. Drug peddler held with 1050 pieces of Yaba

Rapid Action Battalion Unit-8 arrested a drug peddler with Yaba and cash money from Rupatali area of the city on Saturday. The arrestee was identified as Tuhin Rana Babu, 20, son of Faruk Alam from Kamdevpur under Nalcity upazila of Jhalakathi. One thousand and fifty pieces of Yaba and Tk.51 thousand gained by selling the drug also recovered from Babu. RAB-8 issuing a press note on Saturday said a team of RAB raiding the residence of Babu at Howladar Bari lane of Gasturbine Road of Rupatali area on early Saturday recovered the drug and money. Nurul Islam, officer in charge of Barishal Kotwali police station, said, Maniruzzaman, Deputy Assistant Director of RAB-8, as complainant lodged a case with this police station under narcotic control act in this connection and accused Babu sent to jail after produced before the court on Saturday afternoon.
