Khulna DC visits temples in Daulatpur

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Khulna Mohammad Helal Hossain visited different temples of city’s Daulatpur area on Wednesday evening on the day of “Kumari Puja” on 8th day of Durga Puja, the biggest festival of the Hindu Community. DC also exchanged view with the leaders of Puja Udjapan Parishad. Ashtomi Puja and Anjali dedication were held at all the temples in the area in presence of numerous devotees and visitors. “Prashads” were distributed among the devotees and the guests during the festival. DC visited different temples including Daulatpur Pabla Sarbojonin Kali Mandir at Bonikpara area, Gachhtala Mandir, Sahapara Mandir, Pabla Modhyapara mandir, Pabla Kundupara Mandir and Moheswarpasha Sarbojonin Kali Mandir (Temple). Among others who were present during the visit of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) are – Chairman of Bangladesh Jute Association (BJA) and Daulatpur Thana unit Awami League Sheikh Syed Ali, Daulatpur Thana unit President of Bangabandhu Parishad SM Nurul Haque Nuru, Cultural leader Shahin Jamal Pan, Controller of Jashore Education Board Madhob Chandra Rudra, Khulna Police Superintendent (SP) SM Shafiullah, General Secretary of Khulna cioty unit Puja Udjapan Pareishad Proshanto Kumar Kundu, Daulatpur Thana unit President of Puja Udjapan Parishad Tilok Goshyami. On the other hand, DC visited and attended a view-exchange meeting with the committee of Moheswhwarpasha Kalibari Temple while President of the committee Rango Lal Saha, General secretary Udoynath Munshi, Cashier Ajoy Dey and all the members of the committee were also present in the view-exchange meeting.
Durga Puja ends amid festivity in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: The five-day celebration of Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Bangali Hindu community, ended here today with immersion of the Goddess Durga in the river Padma. The last day rituals of the festival were celebrated amid much enthusiasm and festivity. ‘Prasad’ and sweets were distributed among the devotees and the people belonging to other communities, who visited the Puja Mandops. Marking the Bijoya Dashami women devotees applied ‘Sindur’ on the face of goddess Durga and exchanged among themselves amid joyous and festive mood. Before removing the idols of Durga and other gods and goddesses from the altar of all mandops or makeshift pavilions for immersion, the Hindu devotees danced and sang ‘kirton’. Thousands of devotees joined the colorful marches as the idols were being carried to the nearby rivers particularly the river Padma, ponds, canals and other water bodies for immersion. A total of 463 puja mandops, including 96 in the city, were set up in the district. Local administration distributed 231.50 tonnes of rice on the occasion of Durga puja this year. Members of police, RAB, BGB and Ansar-VDP were on duty round-the-clock while officials, politicians and leaders of different socio-cultural organizations including Mayor of Rajshahi City AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and Indian Assistant High Commissioner Avijit Chattapadhyia visited the mandops, reports BSS.
UP members held with Yaba pills in Satkhira
SATKHIRA: Members of Rapid action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested a Union Parishad member along with 180 pieces of Yaba tablets from his residence in Tala upazila on Friday. The arrestees are Biswajit Mandal, 42, a member of no 5 ward of Khalilnagar Union Parishad and son of Nimai Mandal of the village. Tipped off, a team of Rab-6 conducted a drive at the house of Biswajit and arrested him along with the Yaba pills in the morning, said Commnading officer of RAB-6, Lieutenant Colonel ZahidulKabir. He was also involved in Yaba trading, said RAB.
