Jubo Dal leader arrested in Sylhet

Police arrested a local leader of Jubo Dal from Madrasa Bazar area in Balaganj upazila of Sylhet on Saturday evening. The arrestee was identified as Babul Miah, president of Ward no 2 of Bazar unit Jubo Dal. Sub-Inspector Kamrul Hossain of Balaganj Police Station said a team of police arrested Babul from the area in the evening in a case filed for blasting crude bombs in Morarbazar in Dewan Bazar union, Sirajpur village and Azizpur Bazar in Paschim Gouripur union.
National Sanitation Month, World Hand Wash Day observed

Public Health Engineering Department, BRAC including Kishoreganj District Administration jointly arranged a colourfull rally, discussion, documentary flim, mella, postering and washing programme in the district marking the National Sanitation Month and Hand Washing Day on Monday. A discussion on Clean hands a recipe for health held at local collectorate conference room on Monday morning. Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury attented as chief guest while D.P.H.E Executive Engineer Md. Moshiur Rahman in the chair. It was addressed among others by ADC (Education & ICT) Abdullah Al Masud as special guest, BRAC District Manager Khurshid Alam, Technical Manager of Care Ahsanul Hoque, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, Senior Journalist A.K. Nasim Khan, D.P.H.E Assistant Engineer Abu Zakaria, Journalist Mushfiqur Rahman and District Press Club Secretary Ashraful Islam. A colourfull rally was brought out in the town led by D.C. Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury.
Int’l Day for Disaster Reducing observed

The International Day for Disaster Reducing was observed in a befitting manner in Chandpur and seven other Upazilas on Saturday. To observe the day, rally, painting competition, discusson meeting and an ‘exhibition of how to extinguish fire ‘ were arranged at the local Hasan Ali Government High School ground. District administration organized these programmes.
A rally carrying banner depicting this year’s slogan ‘Reducing Economic Losses’ led by ADC Revenue Md Jamal Hossain was brought out in the town. A large number of people including teachers and students attended it. A painting competition was held on the occasion. A good number of school boys and girls took part in it. Then, a discussion meeting highlighting the significance of the day was held at the auditorium of Hasan Ali Model Government Primary School.
District Relief and Disaster Management officer Md A B M Jakir Hossain presided over it.
ADC(Revenue) Md Jamal Hossain was the chief guest.
Assistant Deputy Director of Fire Service and Civil Defense Ratan Kr Nath, District Unit of Children’s Affairs officer Kawser Ahmed, Press Club’s former President Golam Kibriya Jiban,(BTV and Ittefaque), Hasan Ali Government Model Pry School Head Teacher Ismat Ara Shafi, among others, spoke with reference to the topic.
The chief guest and the speakers laid emphasis upon creating awareness among the people about the dangers of natural disasters and how to tackle them efficiently to save valuable lives and properties . They also laid special emphasis upon giving correct forecasting to the mass people about any natural disasters well ahead through TV channels and radio and Mobile message. Then, the guests gave away prizes among the successful participants.
Finally, an attractive exhibition on ‘How to extinguish devastating fire by a team of fire fighters of Chandpur Fire Station and thus, save valuable lives and properties from being damaged’ was held at the playground. It was impressive to all.
