Human chain demands arrest of killers of Dr Shama

Different organization including Mahila Parishad, Jessore district unit formed a human chain in the town on Thursday evening demanding the arrest of the killers of Dr Dr Shamarukh Mahjabin Shama, wife of Humayun Sultan Sadab, elder daughter of Khan Tipu Sultan, Awami League leader and former lawmaker for Jessore-5. The human chain was formed at Garikhana Road in the town where people of different walks of life took part. Dr Shama was taken to Central Hospital after killing her at the residence of Khan Tipu Sultan on November 13. ‘We were informed about the matter at around 2pm on the day Islam, alleged Shahanur Sharif, brother of Dr Shama and also CEO, Micro Dream IT, a software firm in Jessore.
High Zinc rice seeds distributed at Shibalaya

With the financial assistance of International Donor Organisation Harvest Plus Bangladesh, Christian Commission For Development In Bangladesh-CCDB, Shibalaya Upazila Agriculture Extension Department, Shibalaya Farmers Group jointly arranged high zinc rice seed distribution programme on Friday . The distribution programme was held at CCDB office under Shibalaya Upazila in Manikganj District. Shibalaya Upazila Chairman Mohammad Ali Akbar was the chief guest at the function. CCDB Seed Promotion Programme chief Mr. Samiran Biswas, Shibalaya Oc Rakibuzzaman, Social Worker Sudeep Ghosh Basu, Upazila Agriculture Sub-Extension officer Anupam, Shibalaya Farmers Group directors Raushan Ara, Awalad Hossain, Sharifa Begum, Amzad Hossain, Sukumar Sikder spoke at the distribution function. 100 farmers of Shibalaya Upazila and others were given 5 KG high zinc rice seed for plot showing. Chief guest said human body is facing different problems for want of zinc. People are being also short for want of it. It is essential to prevent it. Though rice is our main food we should high zinc containing rice. He thanked Agriculture Department, CCBD and Shibalaya Farmers group for taking this kind of initiatives.
Highway blocked as woman killed in road mishap

Agitated people blocked Barisal-Patuakhali highway after a woman killed under bus at Lakkhipasha Goldarbari area of Bakerkanj upazila on Barisal-Patuakhali highway Thursday morning. The victim was identified as Nurjahan Begum, 65, wife of Nurul Islam Haoladar of the area. Nurul Islam, Bakerganj police station officer in charge, said Nurjahan Begum died at the spot after a bus of Ananta Paribahon plying on Patuakhali-Dhaka route crushed her at about 10:30 am while she tried to cross the highway. Local people succeeded to detain the bus, but its driver and staffs managed to flee way. Then the agitated detaining the killer vehicle blocked the highway demanding arrest and punishment of the killer driver. Police managed to resume traffic on the highway after an hour with the help of local elites. The dead body of the victim sent to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital after lodging a case of unnatural death, the police officer said.
