Preparations afoot to hold National Dev Fair in Bagerhat

 Under the auspices of Bagerhat district administration brisk preparations are afoot here to celebrate a 3-day National Development Fair-2018 in the local Zila Parishad auditorium from October 03 to 06. In this connection an elaborate programme was already calked out earlier by the district administration to celebrate the Development Fair in a befitting manner. The programme includes a grand rally, discussion meetings, exhibition of documentary films of development works of the country, cultural functions, Pot songs, essay competition and distribution of prizes. The fair will be ceremonially inaugurated by Sheikh Helal Uddin, nephew of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Dr Alhaj Md Moazammel Hossain, MP , Talukdar Abdul Khalek, newly elected Mayor , Khulna City Corporation, Alhaj Adv Mir Shawkat Ali Badsha, MP , Habibun Nahar, MP , Happy Boral, MP, Sheikh Kamruzzaman Tuku, Chairman, Bagerhat Zilla Parishad, Pankaj Chandra Roy, Police Super , Bagerhat, Dr Arun Chandra Mondol, Civil Surgeon , Bagerhat and Khan Habibur Rhman, Mayor , Bagerhat Pouashava will be present in the fair as honourable guests while Lokman Hossain Mia, Divisional Commissioner , Khulna will be present in the conclusion day of the fair as chief guest. The fair will be presided over by Tapan Kumar Biswas, DC, Bagerhat.
Participation of community orgs to achieve SDGs stressed

 Speakers urged all making effort to reach the target of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the government 7th year long development planning. They made the call on Wednesday in a meeting titled ‘Enhancing the participation of community based organisation in democratic governance of Bangladesh’ at the Begum Rokeya Auditorium , RDRS Bangladesh of the city. Deputy Director, Local Government Department, Ruhul Amin Miah attended the programme as Chief Guest while, Deputy Director, Department of Livestock, Dr Mahabub Alam and Deputy Director , Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), Rangpur Region, Dr Sorwarul Alam was present as special guests with Director, RDRS, Bangladesh, Humayun Khaled in the chair. Rangpur Press Club, President, Sadrul Alam Dulu, Secretary, Abdur Rashid Babu, Kawnia upazilla vice chairman, Abdur Razzak and development activist, Hafizur Rhaman spoke among others.They said, the government has taken sufficient measures to ensure reasonable price for the farmers produce so that they can get inspired to grow more products and become economically solvent. In the meeting, presentation on Oxfam, RDRS Bangladesh and newly launched EU CSO project made by representatives from Oxfam and RDRS Bangladesh. Many participants expressed their opinion that EU CSO project is a well-timed project now and it’s mostly needful to us as well as Bangladesh.
