Mymensingh- Bhairab rail communication resumes

The rail communication between Mymensingh and Bhairab resumed after four hours of suspension due to the derailment of a goods-laden train at Bakainagar in Gauripur upazila on Sunday noon. The tracks were clear around 12 pm, said Assistant Sub-inspector (TSI) Rezaul Karim of Government Railway Police (GRP) in Mymensingh. Four compartments of a slipper and stone-laden Chattogram bound train veered off the track near Gauripur Railway Station at 7:30am.
29 drug peddlers held in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested 29 alleged drug peddlers here while 24 of them were sentenced to different terms of jail each by mobile courts on charge of taking drugs and drug trading on Sunday . On tips-off, the elite force conducted drives in different areas of Chapainawabganj, Natore and Joypurhat districts and arrested the people for their alleged involvement in drug trading or taking drugs. The RAB officials said they also seized 106 bottles of phensidyl, 95 pieces of drug-tablets, eight liters of country-made liquor and some other drugs-taking instruments from their possession. Later, the arrested people were produced before three separate mobile courts. After examining the evidences, the mobile court sentenced 24 of them to jail. Two others were fined Taka 10,000 and regular cases were filed against three other detainees. Saiful Islam, assistant superintendent of police working with RAB, said different courts sent more than 120 drug addicts to jail during the last one week, reports BSS.
3 fishermen arrested from Sundaranabs

Three fishermen were arrested from Sundarbans by the Forest Department on the charge of catching fish after pouring poison in the river on Saturday along with fishing nets, pesticides and poison mixed fish. I Kamrul Islam,Forest Station Officer of Chandpai Forest Range (Mongla) under the Eastern Division of Sundarbans said that on the day while the forest guards were discharging their normal patrol duties in the forest they found 3 fishermen were catching fish from the river Shela at Harintana after pouring pesticides in the river. Then the forest guards arrested them and recovered fishing net, one bottle of pesticides, 10 kgs poison mixed fish and a boat from their possession. The arrestees are Altaf Hossain (25), Joynal Hawladar (27) and Alauddin Hawladar (30). They hail from Sonatala village under Shrankhola Upazila in Bagerhat district. In this connection case was lodged with the local PS under Forest Act. They were sent to jail Hajat through the court.
