A court here on Thursday convicted a man and sentenced him to life term imprisonment for killing a minor boy in 2010.
The convict was identified as Pervez Ahmed, 30, a resident of Akhalia Nayabazar in Sylhet city and son of Abul Hossain of Jalypur village in Monohorganj upazila of Comilla district.
The court also fined the convict Tk1000, in default, to suffer two months more of rigorous imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, Hridoy, a two-year-old boy of Rahena Begum was strangulated to death by the convict over previous enmity on April 26, 2010.
Local people caught Pervez while trying to flee after the incident.
Later Rahena filed a case with Kotwali Police Station.
Meanwhile, Pervez made a confessional statement under the section 164 before the court.
After examining records and witnesses, Sylhet Metropolitan Sessions Judge Akbar Hossain Mridha handed down the verdict.
