Silver ornaments, phensidyl seized at Benapole  
BENAPOLE: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized silver ornaments and phensidyl syrup smuggled from India in Amrakhali area here on Sunday morning. Tipped off, a BGB team conducted a drive in the area in the morning and seized the Indian contraband items, said Subedar Monir Hossain, company commander of BGB Benapole port. However, no one was arrested in this connection, he added, reports UNB.
Man dies from snakebite in Manikganj
MANIKGANJ: A man died from snakebite at Betilavillage in Sadar upazila on Wednesday night. The deceased was identified as Abdul Kader Biswas, 54, office assistant of deputy commissioner office and son of Tamij Uddin of the village. Family members said a snake bitAbdul Kaderwhile he was offering Esha prayer at his residence around 9 pm. Later, he was taken to Sadar hospital where the doctors declared him dead, reports UNB.
Tree fair begins in Kishoreganj

Agriculture Extension Department, Forest Department including Kishoreganj District Administration jointly arranged a Tree Fair at Old Stadium ground on Friday. A discussion meeting was held at local stadium ground on Friday before evening. Deputy Director of Agriculture Md. Shafiqul Islam in the chair. It was addressed among others by ADC (General) & D.S Torafder Md. Akhter Jamil, Divisional Forest Officer Dr. Prantosh Chandra Roy, District Awami League President Advocate Kamrul Ahashan Shajahan, P.P Advocate Shah Azizul Hoque, Krishak League President Ahamed Ullah and Additional Md. Shafiqul Islam. Later, a colourfull rally was brought out in the town. At least 35 stalls were set-up in the fair.
Cub Scouts orientation training held
RAJSHAHI: Furthermore strengthening and consolidating the scouting movement can be the effective means of creating a skilled workforce as well as honest and competent leadership. Scouting movement can play a pivotal role in getting rid of the alarming situation as cyber crime, drug addiction, terrorism and other serious crimes cast a negative impact on a large section of juvenile and youths and often ruin their life. The observation came from an orientation training course-2018 for the Cub Scout leaders at PN Girls High School under Puthiya upazila in the district on Thursday afternoon. All school heads and scouts teachers and leaders in Rajshahi district joined the training. The upazila administration organized the course aims at infusing dynamism into the activities of scout teachers and leaders. Main thrust of the training was to enhance moral and mental strength of the teachers and leaders along with equipping them with discipline and leadership characteristics. Puthiya Upazila Chairman Anwarul Islam Jumma and Upazila Secondary Education Officer Jahidul Haque addressed the programme as chief and specialguests respectively with Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdullah Al Mahmud in the chair. The speakers said the scouting movement can make significant contributions to the country and nation building, reports BSS.
