Speakers at a discussion meeting on “safe school and safe community project” here recently underlined the need for creating congenial academic atmosphere in the schools side by side with providing security to the students and establishing their rights to file complain or report to the concerned authority about any kind of repression, harassment and mental torture in the schools or ways to their schools. They also emphasized the need for giving inspirations to the school teachers, students and community members for building up their mind-set ready to raise resistance against sexual harassment to girl students or gender discriminations.
Chatal Sramik electrocuted in Jhenidah

A Chatal Sramik electrocuted at Hatgopalpur bazar under Sadar upazila on Wednesday morning.The victim is Billal Hossain, 32 son of Anwar Hossain of Teurdah Koloni para under Sadar upazila.Padmakar UP chairman Bikas Biswas said, Billal Hossain came in contact with live wares while working at the Chatal owns Kazal Hossain. Instantly, he was rushed to Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to injuries at 11-00 am. This incident occurred due to flaws of electric line.
27 Jamaat-Shibir activists held in Bogra

Hijra Pride begins in Sylhet

Members of Hijra community observed ‘Hijra Pride’ in the city for the first time on Sunday, with the participation of Hijras from Sylhet Division. Shohidul Islam, deputy commissioner, Sylhet inaugurated the progamme by releasing balloons on the premises of the deputy commissioner’s office. A rally was brought out in the city to celebrate the day. Later, a discussion metting was held at Zila Parishad Hall. Shohidul Islam, DC, Sylhet was the chief guest on the occasion. Abul Kalam, deputy director, social welfare department presided over the meeting.
Attempt to murder of college teacher protested

As a mark of protest against an attempt to murder ABM.Hasanuzzman, an Asstt. Professor of Bengali department, Bagerhat Govt. Girls’ College and demanding the arrest of the culprits the teachers of the college wore black badges, brought out a silent procession in the district town and formed a human chain in front of Bagerhat Press Club on Monday in the morning under the banner of BCS Education (College Teachers) General Service. It was addressed among others by Prof. Sukantha Kumar Mandol, Principal, Bagerhat Govt. P.C.College, Parimal Majumdar, Principal, Bagerhat Govt. Girls’ College, Prof. Shaikh Mostahidul Alam Robi, Vice-principal of the same college and Shah Alam Faraji, executive member of BCS Teachers’ Association.
