 Monthly meeting of Dupchanchia Press Club was held at its office premise on Saturday evening in Bogura district. The whole function was presided over by president of the club Golam Faruq while vice president of the club and standing mayor of Dupchanchia Municipality Belal Hossain spoke seeking helps from the committee politely. College student commits suicide in Jashore
JASHORE: A college student committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at Police Line School area in the district town on Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Shanta, 20, a second-year student of Daud Public School and College and son of Sub-inspector Obaidur Rahman of the town. Santha locked into an altercation with his mother over family affairs in the evening and committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan of his bed room around 9 pm, said Md Abul Bashar, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Jashore Medical College Hospital for an autopsy, the OC added, reports UNB.
Schoolgirl killed in Sylhet road crash

A schoolgirl was killed in a road accident on Biswanath road in the upazila on Saturday noon. The deceased was identified as Karima Begum, 9, daughter of Fazar Ali of Gomragul village in Khazanchi union of the upazila and a fourth grader of Gomragul Government Primary School. According to locals, Karima was returning home around2pmduring her tiffin break in a CNG-run auto-rickshaw. When the auto-rickshaw reached near her house, Karima jumped off the vehicle and fell under its wheel. Locals rushed critically injured Kariman to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where the duty doctors declared her dead.
Minor boy drowns in Thakurgaon pond
THAKURGAON: A minor boy drowned while taking bath in a pond in Hawda village of Baliadangi upazila on Saturday noon. The deceased was identified as Rabbi, 7, son of Dulal Uddin of Goalkari village and a class one student of Goalkari Government Primary School in the upazila. Locals said Rabbi went to visit his grandmother’s house at Hawda village and drowned in deep water in a nearby pond in the noon. Later, locals rescued him in an unconscious condition and rushed him to upazila health complex where the duty doctor declared him dead, reports UNB.
Three ‘robbers’ held in Gopalganj
GOPALGANJ: Police arrested three people from the backyard of Moharjpur Land Office in Maksudpur upazila early Saturday while they were taking preparation to commit robbery in the area. The three were identified as Asad Munshi, 36, son of late Kashem Munshi hailing from Jhuti village of the same upazila, Alamgir Sheikh, 39, son of Ahammad Ali Sheikh of Daiba Nandanpur village in Boalmari upazila of Faridpur district and Monir Mridha, 30, son of Azad Mridha, resident of Chhondapur village of Madhukhali upazila of the same district, reports UNB.
