3 polytech students in Barisal expelled

Three polytechnic students in Barisal have been expelled for two years for adopting unfair means in the examination and misbehaving with the teachers on Sunday. The punished students were connected with BCL unit of the institute,student sources said. Mir Mosharraf Hossain, Principal Barisal Polytechnic Institute, said Mokhlesur Rahman of eighth semester Electronics, Naim Hossain of sixth semester Civil and Jobaer Hossain of fourth semester Power department were expelled for adopting unfair means in the final examination of second, fourth, sixth, eighth semesters on Sunday. After the expulsion from the hall they accused misbehaved with the teachers and tried to assault the invigilators . So hard step was taken against them under section 1(3) of Technical Education Board Act, the principal of the institute said.
Farewell to SSC students held in Dupchanchia

A heart touching farewell ceremony of secondary school certificate (SSC) students and vocational education was held in Dupchanchia Girls Pilot High School under Dupchanchia upazila of Bogra district on Sunday. The whole function was headed by Alauddin Fakir while guardians of the outgoing students were present here. Headmaster of the school Abul Basar speaks addressing the outgoing students to make their lives appropriately to serve the parents and nation. Students are the future of the nation, headmaster added. Member of managing committe Ansar Ali, Sheikh Alomgir Hossain, Alomgir Hossain, former member Mozaffor Rahman Titu, outgoing student Tamanna Yasmin Niti and Antora Das speak among others in the farewell ceremony.
Contractor arrested over illegal gas connection in Sylhet

Police yesterday arrested a contractor who allegedly made an illegal contract with the people of Ahmadpur village under South Surma Upazilla in Sylhet city to provide gas connection for 22 lakh Taka. The contractor also started works for giving connection after taking the money from 100 families of the village. But, Police seized tools and instruments from the site and arrested him after Sylhet Jalalabad Gas Authority’s South Surma Office Manager Fozlul Haque filed a written complaint with South Surma Police Station on Thursday. Sub-Inspector of South Surma Thana, Didarul Islam said that based on the complaint of Jalalabad Gas, police drove to the spot, seized tools and arrested Akkas Ali, son of Sumsuddin of the village Shibchar under Shibchar Upazilla in Madaripur district from there.
Cheque given to Rana Plaza victim’s sons

Two sons of one of the Rana Plaza victims’ in Chapainawabganj got aid from the prime minister’s relief and welfare fund on Tuesday. Deputy Commissioner of Chapainawabganj Sardar Sarafat Ali handed over the cheque of Tk. 3,00,000 to Ismail Hossain and Insan Ali, sons of Shirin Akhtar of Masjid Para in Chapainawabganj town in a simple function at his office. Among others, additional district magistrate Ashraful Islam, additional deputy commissioner (General) Dr. KM Quamruzzaman Selim, sadar upazila nirbahi officer Dr. Chitralekha Naznin, district relief and rehabilitation officer Matiur Rahman and sadar upazila project implementation officer Mansurur Rahman were present in the function.
