4 drug traders jailed

A mobile court of RAB- 14 sentenced at least four people to two years jail for drug abuse on Friday. RAB-14, Kishoreganj Camp Company Commander Lt. Savon Khan said that RAB, a elite force in a drive led by Senior Magistrate Abu Taher Sayeed at Kharamptty, Batrish in the town on Friday night and arrested four youth, recovered 35 tablets and 700 gram hemps. Senior Magistrate Abu Taher Sayeed sentences four youths 2 years jailed for yaba and hemps. The convicted persons are Maksudul Hasan Tanvir (21), Shohel (25), Rasel (18) and Partho (19). All convicts were sent to Kishoreganj District Jail.
Cop’s wife commits suicide

A police constable wife was committed suicide at his house in Thanor Police station in Rajshahi. Police constable’s name is Arshad Ali’s. Locals informed that Mhafuza Akter Poli , wife of Arshad has been suffering from mental disease. OC Rezaul Karim said that thana police recovered the dead body from his house and send to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) for post mortem on Friday morning.
16 persons sued for killing farmer in Morrelganj

One Taslima Begum of village Purbo Charhoglabunia within Hoglabunia Union Parishad under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district registered a murder case on Tuesday night with Morrelganj PS mentioning the names of 16 persons and unidentified 8/9 others on the charge of brutally killing her husband Moklesur Rahman (50) in a broad daylight on Sunday by the murderers. Police recorded the case. No body was arrested till the writing of this report. But police already seized a motor cycle left abandoned suspecting its use during the murder by the murderers. It is learnt from the police that the owner of the motor cycle is Mizan Hawldar (28), one of the main accused of the murder case. Md. Alamgir Kabir, Officer-in-charge (investigation) of Morrelganj PS told, Khalil Hawladar (35), son of one Wahed Ali Hawladar of village Purbo Charhoglabuni is the main accused of the murder case. All the accused persons including Khalil Hawladar have been absconding since the incident. He added, police are trying their best to arrest all the accused persons and bring them to book. It may be mentioned here that deceased Moklesur Rahman (50), a poor farmer of village Purbo Charhobglabuni was brutally tortured to death on a road in the village in a broad daylight on Saturday, the after the holy Eid-ul-Fitr for previous enmity with him.
Housewife electrocuted
Anjira Begum (56), mother of Farid Uddin Ahmed, a former UP member of Betaga Union Parikshad under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district met her tragic end when she was electrocuted in her residence in the village Chnakuly on Wednesday noon. It is reported that on the day while she tried to switch on an electric bulb she, some how, touched a live but loose electricity wire and died on the spot.
Media personnels urged to make people aware of RTI Act

Chief Information Commissioner Martuza Ahmad has urged the media men to come forward to create mass awareness on the Right to Access Information Act-2009. He also asked the concerned officials, who are responsible to provide information to people, to study and practice the act to reduce corruption and ensure transparency in the society. He said that proper use of this act would ensure transparency and accountability of the activities of different government and non-government organisations. The chief information commissioner came up with the remarks while addressing a view exchanging meeting on Right to Information Act-2009 with the officials of Bangladesh Betar, Bangladesh Television, divisional information office and the media personals at Sylhet Betar in the city’s Mirer Maydan on Tuesday afternoon. ‘The government has formulated the act to resist irregularities and corruptions in the society. The act must be applied properly to ensure its benefit,’ Martuza added. Bangladesh Betar Sylhet regional director Fakhrul Alam chaired the programme.
