Trump likely to meet Queen Elizabeth

President Donald Trump will meet Queen Elizabeth II during his visit to Britain next month, and many Brits are not amused.
Speaking to Kay Burley of Sky News, the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom confirmed the meeting. “Yes, he has to see the head of state. Putting his foot on the ground of British soil, it’s job one – very, very important, very symbolic,” Robert Wood Johnson said when asked whether Trump’s visit would involve seeing the queen.

South Sudan peace deal attempt fails

The latest attempt at ending South Sudan’s five-year civil war failed Friday as President Salva Kiir rejected working again with rival Riek Machar after their first face-to-face meeting in almost two years.
“This is simply because we have had enough of him,” government spokesman Michael Makuei said. The rivals met this week in neighboring Ethiopia on its prime minister’s invitation, shaking hands and being coaxed into an awkward embrace as they held direct talks.

16 militia killed in Taliban attack

An Afghan official says Taliban fighters killed 16 militia loyal to the government in an early morning ambush in northern Badghis province.
Abdul Aziz Beg, head of the Badghis Provincial Council, says the militia force came under attack early Friday as they arrived to help local police, who had been attacked by Taliban insurgents in the Ab Kamari district.

33 children fall ill in Florida

Thirty-three children and three adults were taken to hospital after falling ill at a summer camp in central Florida, the local fire department said on Friday.
Some of those affected complained of headaches and vomited and one person passed out, CBS News reported, citing Highlands County Public Safety Director Marc Bashoor.
The cause of the illness was unknown and the local health department was investigating the incident, the Highlands County Fire and Rescue said on Twitter.
