55 motorcycles seized in Sylhet

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) seized 55 motorcycles from the city’s Shahi Eidghah area on Wednesday for not having valid documents. RAB-9 sources in a press release said a team of the elite force, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Fazlur Rahman, set up a check post in the area and seized the motorbikes during an one and a half-hour drive. Cases were lodged against 51 of the motorcycles under the Motor Vehicle Act for not carrying necessary documents while four others were handed over to Kotwali Police Station as those were not registered
Foolproof security taken in Sylhet City
Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) has taken foolproof security measures in the Sylhet over the verdict pronounced on Wednesday by International Crimes Tribunal-1 on war crimes trial of Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Matiur Rahman Nizami. Adequate uniformed and plainclothes police will remain on high alert, deployed around the ICT-1 and elsewhere in the Sylhet to avert any untoward incident following the verdict. Deputy Commissioner (Media) of SMP Rahmot Ullah told that Additional police deployed at different key points of the city from early morning as part of the SMP’s security blanket in the Sylhet on Wednesday, he said.
School boy commits suicide in Barisal

A schoolboy has committed suicide by hanging himself from roof of the home at Kawnia BSCIC area on Wednesday morning.The victim was identified as Rifat, 14, student class-IX of Mathuranath School and son of Alal Haoladar of the area.Kazi Mahbubur Rahman, officer in charge of Kawnia police station , quoting family sources told, mother of Rifat rebuked him for his irregularities in attending school on Wednesday morning. Then Rifat went to his bedroom hanged himself from roof.Family members took him to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital , but the attending doctor declared him as dead at 10: 30 am.The dead body handed over to family members without autopsy after lodging a case of unnatural death, police sources said.
View exchange meet on protecting child marriage held

A discussion on protecting child marriage was held at Monirampur Upazila Officer’s Club on Wednesday. USAID and plan Bangladesh Jessore office jointly arranged it. Union chairman secretaries, NGO representatives, Imams, marriage registers, Teacher and Student were participated at the view exchange meeting. Presided over by Upazila Nirbahi officer Sharif Nazrul Islam PHR chief of party Plan International Aubrey Mc cutecheom, Deputy chief Tania Zaman and Project Implementation manager Farhana Afroz attended as chief and special guest respectively. Among others Plan Bangladesh Jessore, Shahrier Mannan, Union chairman Sarder Bahdur Ali, Nazmus Shahadat, NGO worker Hashina Banue, Tapoti Rani spokes at the meeting.
Roundtable conference on TB held

Under the auspices of the Health Department, BRAC and Bagerhat Press Club a Roundtable conference on “Anti TB (Tuberculosis) Programme: Development And Challenge” was held in Bagerhat Press Club auditorium on October Wednesday with Dr. Bakir Hossain, Civil Surgeon, Bagerhat in the chair.They key-note paper on the topic was presented in the conference by Madhusudan Dey, coordinator, BRAC, Khulna. It is stated in the key-note paper that TB is still a fatal disease in the world, but now it is curable.
