S Arabia intercepts Yemen missile

Saudi air defences on Tuesday intercepted a ballistic missile that targeted the western city of Yanbu after being fired from rebel-held territory in neighbouring Yemen, a Saudi-led military coalition said.
The missile fired at the coastal city did not cause any casualties, coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki said in a statement released by the official Saudi Press Agency.

Czech PM rejects Merkel’s
migration call

Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis on Monday rejected a new “flexible” European Union approach to migration pushed by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
At the weekend, Merkel proposed a “flexible system with division of labour” which could see countries that refuse to take in refugees compensate by making contributions in other areas.

Forest fire raging in Sweden

Swedish authorities say at least 25 people have been evacuated as a forest fire rages in southeastern Sweden with dozens of firefighters, army personnel and five helicopters trying to control the blaze.
Authorities said Tuesday the fire near Sala, about 120 kilometers (75 miles) northwest of Stockholm, had been contained but wasn’t under control, adding they were up against strong winds and dry conditions.

Guatemala volcano death toll rises to 65

Rescue workers pulled more bodies Monday from under the dust and rubble left by an explosive eruption of Guatemala’s Fuego volcano, bringing the death toll to at least 65.
Disaster Relief Agency spokesman David de Leon told a briefing that after hours of searching for survivors, the number of dead had hit at least 65.

10 killed in landslide in NE India

At least 10 people have been killed in a landslide in the northeastern Indian state of Mizoram, police said Tuesday.
The landslide happened in Lunglei town and was triggered by heavy rains that started lashing large parts of southern Mizoram since late Monday night.
