Theft at Dupchanchia LGED office

A valuable laptop as well as tab was stolen from the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) office premises breaking grill of back window under Dupchanchia upazila of Bogura recently. As usual, the official personnel performed their daily work with the laptop on last Thursday and went away closing the main doors. On Saturday morning the officials again open the door for rendering the necessary work and saw the laptop caring bag was scattered on the floor but HP Brand corei7, 14 inches model laptop is absence. Besides, a tab is also stolen from the office. After seeking it, they took decision to inform the matter to the higher authority of the Department immediately, said upazila engineer Rabiul Islam. Later, a general dairy was lodged with Dupchanchia police station in this connection, said police personnel.
Poet Nazrul’s birth anniv observed

The 119th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul islam was celebrated in Kishoreganj district on Friday in a befitting manner. The National Poet Kazi Nazrul through his fiery poems had inspired people ot fight against injustice and repression of the colonial rule. Many socio-cltural and political organisations including Kishoreganj District Administration arranged elaborate programmes in the district town. Kishoreganj District Administration arrange a discussion and cultual function held at Local Art Council hall on Friday morning. Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury presided over the discussion. It was addressed among others by Zila Parished Chairman Adv Md. Zillur Rahman as special guest, ADC (Gen) Torafder Md. Akther Jamil, Additional Police Super Nazmul Islam, P.P Advocate Shah Azizul Hoque, Sadar Upazila Awami League President and Special PP Adv Ataur Rahman, Former Freedom Fighter Unit Commander Md. Asad Ullah, Adv Nasir Uddin Faruki, CAB President and senior Journalist Alam Sarowar Tito, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, Senior Journalist Saiful Hoque Mollah Dulu and Assistant Prof Samiul Hoque Mollah. Late, a cultural function was held at local art council hall.
College student electrocuted in Jashore
JASHORE: A college student was killed after being electrocuted near the central jail in the city on Saturday noon. The deceased was identified as Muntasim Babu, 18, a second year student of Jessore Government Polytechnic Institute and son of Shukur Ali of Jiban Nagar upazila of Chuadanga district.Victim’s friend Sajid Hossain said Babu was trying to pass over a key to his friend with the help of a rope. Suddenly, he came in contact with a live electrical wire and sustained serious burn injuries. Later, he was rushed to Jessore General Hospital where the duty doctor of the emergency department declared him dead, he added, reports UNB.
