Tea auction centre opens in Sreemangal

Inaugurating the tea auction centre in Sreemangal, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed on Monday said the second auction centre after Chottagram would help minimize the cost of tea producers. ‘Producers faced difficulties to auction off their tea in the lone centre in Chottagram and the new centre would minimize the problem,’ he added. The minister opened the second tea auction centre at Sreemangal upazila in Moulvibazar through video conference from his secretariat office. In the first auction in Sreemangal, a kg tea was sold at Tk 11,000. Tofail said the government took the initiative of opening the new centre following the demand from tea producers and implemented the commitment of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
BRTA organised training workshop

Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) organised a one day training workshop with professionals held at Kishoreganj Collectorate Staff Club Auditorium on Monday. Additional District Magistrate Alamgir Hossein was attended as Chief Guest while BRTA Senior Assistant Director Engineer Shafiqul Alam Sarkerchaired the meeting. CAB President and senior journalist Alam Sarowar Tito and 250- Bed General Hospital RMO Dr Md Abul Hossion were attended as special guest. It was addressed among others by Traffic Inspector (TI) M A Karim, District Press Club Secretary Ashraful Islam, BRTA Inspector Md. Saiful Islam and driver Md. Kanchon Miah. At least 145 Government-Non Government drivers joing the training workshop.
Children Fair held
District Information Office of Kishoreganj arranged a colourfull rally, discussion, seminar and documentary film marking the Children Fair, Women and Children Development and Communication Week. A discussion meeting was held at Local Art Council hall on Monday. Deputy Commissioner Md Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury was attended as Chief Guest while Senior District Information Officer Md. Shamsul Hoque in the chair. It was addressed among others by ADC (General and DS) Torafder Md Akhter Jamil, District Education Officer Mostafizur Rahman, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito and District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal. Later, a colourfull rally was brought out in the town on Monday morning marking the Children Fair.
11 hand bombs recovered in Benapole  
BENAPOLE: Police recovered 11 hand bombs from Benapole land port area in an abandoned condition yesterday . Being tipped-off, a team of police conducted a drive behind shade no 11 of the port and recovered the hand bombs, said Firoz Uddin, officer-in-charge of Benapole Port Police Station. However, police could not arrest anyone, reports UNB.
