World Mother’s Day observed

District Women Affiers Department of Kishoreganj, various socio-cultural organisation including Mohila Parishad arranged a rally, discussion and certificates distributing among the Joyitaes marking the World Mother’s Day yesterday. A discussion meeting was held at Local Women’s Affairs Office Conference Room with District Officer Mamun-ur-Rashid in the chair. It was addressed among others by Retd. Headmaster Khaleda Islam, Jatiya Mohila Sangstah District Chairperson Khaleda Fancy Rona, CAB President and Senior Journalist Alam Sarowar Tito and Programme Officer Ziaur Rahman.
Char families get tube wells from LGSP
GAIBANDHA: A total of 15 char families under Fazlupur union of Fulchhari upazila in the district got tube wells from local government support project (LGSP) on Friday afternoon. A simple function was also held on the premises of the upazila complex building at the initiative of upazila administration under LGSP. Deputy speaker of the Jatiya Sangshad Advocate Fazley Rabbi Miah distributed the tube wells to the hard core people of the char union as the Chief Guest. Speaking at this, deputy speaker Advocate Fazley Rabbi Miah said the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had also been working for the welfare of backward and underprivileged char people of the country through implementing different projects there. The char people had been brought under various facilities including electricity supply and road and academic building construction of the state in a bid to change their socio-economic condition, the deputy speaker added. Upazila parishad chairman Habibur Rahman, UNO Abdul Halim Tolstoy, union parishad chairman Joynul Abedin Jalal, and project chairman were present on the occasion, reports BSS.
Two hundred street-dogs vaccinate

More than two hundred street-dogs of Barishal city vaccinate with anti-rabies vaccine on Friday and Saturday. The two-day drive was operated by Eco Savers Foundation, a voluntary organization, working about animal-rights and prevention of cruelty against animal. Dr. Robiul Islam veterinary surgeon of Barishal City Corporation, inaugurated the programme on Friday morning. He hailing the programme said it will save the citizens from rabies virus carried and delivered biting of animals, mostly dogs, and create mass awareness in protecting animals from torture and cruelty. Aminul Islam Mithu, chairman of Eco Savers Foundation, said they operated the programme in assistances of a twenty-member team of volunteers and received good responses from both the citizens and animals. We also distributed leaflets for increasing consciousness about behaviour with animal, especially removing fear with dogs and how to act after dog-biting and prevention of that, Mithu added.Dog is one of the best friends of human being and could give good company assuring with safety and security. So we must protect this animal from cruelty to receive love from those, Aminul told. The biting by a vaccinated dog could not spread hydrophobias, the ESF chairman assured. Wahida Khan, director ESF, said cruelty against animals including dogs, especially the street-dogs , are increasing and that mostly caused by the fear of hydrophobia spreading by dog-biting. So taking a countrywide programme we are trying to create consciousness and alertness about dog-biting, improving human relationship with animals. We also working to create a pressure for enacting an act for prevention of cruelty against animals, Wahida added.
