Community clinic celebrates founding anniv in Dupchanchia

Taluchhat Community Clinic at Gunaher union under Dupchanchia has celebrated its 18th foundation anniversary with much enthusiasm on Thursday. Before parading a rally at the main road of the area a discussion meeting held at the office premises presided over Community Health Care Provider (CHCP) Razowan Hossain while Journalist Emdadul Haque spoke here as Chief Guest. The chief guest said a good number people including newborns are currently getting primary healthcare services from CC smoothly. Mr Emdad also said antenatal services were also given to pregnant mothers and the existing community clinics have attained the trusts of marginal people as they are getting primary healthcare services from the clinics regularly. The authority concern mainly provides 28 types of medicines to people free of cost among the poor and marginal people. Noting that the CCs have been reaching the healthcare services at the doorsteps of common people, the health official said they are getting health education, referral advice, pregnancy checkup and vaccination at the clinics. Meanwhile the government is working sincerely to reach the healthcare services at the people’s doorsteps. Reactivation and revitalization of the community clinics is a great achievement of the present government. Jahir Hossain, land donator, Sarwar Hossain president of the CC and civil person Abdul Jobbar spoke among others in the discussion meeting.
DNCRP fines RU shop for selling expired foods

The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection fined a shop at Rajshahi University TK 20,000 for keeping and selling expired foods and drinks to the students on Tuesday. Hasan Al Maruf, Deputy Director of DNCRP Rajshahi Office fined the shop named ‘Campus Food Corner’ on complaints by two students of the university. Campus sources said, Raihan Kabir, a final year student of RU public administration department bought a drink from the shop and become sick after drinking. Later, Raihan Kabir along with his some friends went to the shop and wanted some drinks and biscuits. But, the shop owner Nizam Uddin Alam served expired drinks and food that triggered an altercation with them. Later, the students informed the university proctor Professor Lutfor Rahman who then informed DNCRP office. The students alleged that Nizam Uddin usually sells expired foods and drinks and if protested he sometimes threatened the students.
3 studentships suspended for ragging at BU

Barishal University(BU) authority has been suspended studentships of three for one year for ragging. Dr S M Imamul Haque, vice chancellor of BU acknowledging the facts said it was decided in recent meeting of BU syndicate. A description of the decision would also be hoisted at BU notice board to make cautious others about zero-tolerance of BU authourity against ragging. Faisal Mahmud Rumi, deputy director in charge of mass communication of BU, said the punished BU students were: Nusrat Jahan Sifa (roll-005), Kalyan Haldar (roll-007) and Nazmul Hasan (roll-010), second year (2016-17) students of Coastal Studies and Disaster Management (CDM) department of the university.The action was taken after reviewing the probe committee report on basis of the allegations filed by some first-year (2017-18) students of the same department. The 54th meeting of BU syndicate presided over by the vice-chancellor at the liaison office of the university at Dhaka held on Saturday April 21. In that meeting it was also decided that ragging would be treated as stalking and torture and never be tolerated, the BU mass communication official told.
