Int’l Girls in ICT Day observed in Rangpur

 International Bangladesh observed International Girls in ICT Day on Wednesday at Begum Rokeya Auditorium RDRS in Rangpur. Objective of the day is to create an environment that empowers and encourages girls and young women to consider careers in the growing field of ICTs. Ms. Minu Shill, Additional Divisional Commissioner of Rangpur Division was present as chief guests at event. Md. Mustafizur Rahman, Director Innovation-a2i of Prime Minister’s Office and Ms. Ana Teresa Gutierrez- San Martin, Chief Executive Officer of Plan International USA was present as special guest while Md. Abdul Quddus, Divisional Manager of Plan International Bangladesh was presided the event. Discussion session, presentation on ICT and question- answer session were held in the event. One women ICT Entrepreneur shared her success story so that adolescent girls will be inspired to build their career with ICT. Here mentionable that, on the day adolescents are introduced with Google Bus. In this bus, they operate laptop, learn different technic of ICTand enjoy very much. A total of 250 adolescent girls and boys participated the event from eight Upazilas of Rangpur district. Government officials, ICT Unit, journalists, NGO representatives participated the event.

Under the auspices of Bagerhat District Administration, a meeting for exchanging views was held in the conference Room of DC, Bagerhat on Tuesday morning with the local journalists on ‘The Role of medias to create awareness among the rural people about activating the Village Courts of Bangladesh (Phase II Project) with Zahirul Islam, Deputy Director, Local Government, Bagerhat in the chair. Tapan Kumar Biswas, DC, Bagerhat while was addressing the meeting as the chief guest he told, every day criminal, offensive and litigious activities are being done in the rural areas of the country. But the affected persons cannot go to the court for getting justice for economic insolvency and social barriers. He added, Village Court of Bangladesh Project is being implemented by the Government for creating wider access to dispute resolutions services for the rural people particularly poor, vulnerable and the woman folk at the community level. Under this project 42 Union Parishads under 6 Upazilas (Fakirhat, Chitalmari, Kachua, Rampal, Mongla and Sharankhola) out of nine in the district The workshop was also addressed among others by Arpona Ghose, Communication and Outreach Specialist on be half of UNDP and Mohitos Kumar Roy, District Facilitator, Activating Village Court of Bangladesh, Bagerhat. On be half of journalists it was addressed Ahad Uddin Haidar, President of Bagerhat Press Club, Abdul Baki Talukdar, General Secretary of the Club, Adv M Mozaffor Hossain, Prof. ABM. Mosharraf Husain, Adv Md Shah Alam Tuku, Prof Mahfizur Rahma, Shaikh Abu Sayeed, Azmol Hossain, Ahsanul Karim, Nakib Sirajul Islam, M Akbor Tutul and Moazzem Hossain Majnu. As many as 40 journalists of electronic medias and print medias and on line newspapers attended the workshop.
