BRTA-RHD advocacy workshop held

Roads and Highway Department (RHD) and Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) jointly arranged an advocacy workshop on Road Safety with school students at Azim Uddin High School auditorium on Wednesday noon. Golam Md. Bhuiyan, ADC (Education & ICT) attended as Chief Guest while School Headmaster Mukarrom Hossain Sukrana in the chair. Sub-Divisional Engineer of RHD Hritis Barua, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito and District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal attended as special guests. It was addressed among others by Senior Assistant Director, BRTA Kishoreganj Cricle Engineer Shafiqul Alam Sarker, Traffic Inspector M.A Karim, BRTA Inspector Saiful Islam, School Student Moniruzzaman and Tahmina Akter. At least 350 school students, guardian and managing committee members were present in the advocacy workshop.
Two drug dealers detained in Nilphamari

 An operation team of RAB , Nilphamari conducted an operation in the area of Kashadanga under Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon District at around recently. Ninety eight bottles of phensidyl, one motorcycles, two mobile sets and two SIM cards were seized with two drug dealers, Md. Noor Islam (45), father late. Dabir Uddin Batasu, Mohammad Joynal Abedin (42), father Gyus Uddina from village Mahisamari at Baliadangi in Thakurgaon. The details of the incident revealed that a drug trading circle of Baliadangi upazila in Thakurgaon district had been working in the area for a long time.RAB company commander said, the necessary legal measures are being taken for the above incident.
47th national school, madrasa sports, cultural competition held

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid inaugurating 47th national school, madrasa and technical institution level athletics and sports competition on Wednesday said sports and cultural activities could play vital role in preventing militancy and drug addiction. So related topics have been included in educational curriculum to develop not only their educational standard, but also to increase their mental and physical capacities, he said. As a religious ideology Islam is a religion of peace and never supports terrorism and militancy. The anti-liberation forces during their 27-year regime in post-liberation period tried to destroy the achievements of liberation war. Now we are trying our best to educate our new generation as a good citizen with world standard education to fill that loss, the education minister added. Sports associations of national school, madrasa and technical institutions, organised the five-day long programme inaugurated by the education minister at Bangabandhu Udyan in the city flying pigeon, banner. Prof. Mahbubur Rahman, director general of secondary and higher secondary directorate, presided over the programme. Among others Kazi Keramat Ali, state minister for education, Jebunnesa Afroj, law maker, Sohrab Hossain, secondary and higher secondary education secretary, Md. Alamgir, madrasa and technical education secretary, chairmen of different Education Boars including Prof. Ziaul Huq, chairman of Barisal Edication Board, S M Ruhul Amin, Barisal Metropolitan Police Commissioner, also present in the inaugural ceremony of the programme.
