Properties worth Tk.3 lakh were completely gutted when a variety store (shop) of Fultala village market within Gopalpur Union Parishad under Kachua Upazila in Bagerhat district caught fire on Sunday night. Police of Kachua PS told, at the night at about 11 pm the shop caught fire and it was burnt to ashes with all its belongings. Bing informed of the matter police of the PS visited the place of occurrence in the following morning (Monday). But the cause of fire could not be ascertained till the writing of this report. Biplob Mridha, owner of the shop told the newsmen, at Sunday night I closed my shop as usual and went home. In the following morning being informed of the matter I rushed to the spot and found my shop was burnt to ashes with its all belongings.
2 arrested along with 1 kg ganja
Morrelgnj police arrested two youths along with one kg ganja from near Daibanjahati Union Parishad office under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district on Sunday night . The arrestees are Haidar Ali Shaikh (20), son of one Harun Shaikh of village Fatepur under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district and Saidur Rahman (23), son of one Mohsin Sardar of village Chalitakhali in Pirojpur district. In this connection a case was registered with the PS against them in the following morning. Md. Rashedul Alam, OC Morrelganj PS told, acting on secret information a police squad led SI Rafiq raided the area and arrested the youths along with ganja.
4 Indians among 41 people detained in Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh personnel detained a total of 37 people including 4 Indian nationals soon after they entered into Bangladesh without legal documents. A press release of 21 Border Guard Battalion stated that the BGB men detained the people including 17 men, 21 women and 3 children, from Baropota village under bordering Benapole port police station at around 8am on Tuesday. Of the four Indian nationals, 2 are men and 2 are women. The detained were handed over to Benapole port station police after filing a case.
Human chain on International Women’s Day

A huge human chain was formed to celebrate International Women’s Day on Tuesday . The teachers, students and women’s organization leaders took part in the programme in Saidpur upazila parishad premises . Saidpur Upazila Parishad and Women Affairs Department organised the programme. Saidpur Upazila Parishad Chairman Moksedul Momin, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Bazlur Rashid, Upazila Women Affairs Officer Nurunnahar Shahjadi, Upazila Agriculture Officer Homaira Mandal and others took part in the programme. Besides, rally, discussion meeting were held.

BAU (Mymensingh): A day- long Workshop on Development and Commercialisation of Municipal Solid waste compost and Soil testing kit through BAU-ACI Collaboration’ was held in Syed Nazrul Islam Conference Hall of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh on Tuesday. Organised by Department of Soil Science, Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), UGC and ACI. The inaugural session of the workshop Member of the UGC Professor Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah was Chief Guest and launched BAU Soil Testing Kit to be marketed by ACI while BAU VC Prof Dr. Md Ali Akbar was chief patron.
The Project Director HEQEP Dr. Gauranga Chandra Mohanta ndc, Director, Planning and Development of BAU Prof Dr. Monoranjan Das ,Coordinator, CASR of BAU professor Dr.Lutful Hassan, was the special guest. Professor Dr M. Mazibur Rahman ISM of the project, was presided over the inaugural session.
