Subarta Probeen Seba Kendra opens

A senior citizen care center styled “Subarta Probeen Seba Kendra” has formally started it’s service -oriented programs here from on Monday for the care and betterment of the elderly people both of rural and urban areas in the district. Deputy Commissioner Netrakona Dr. Musfiqur Rahman formally inaugurated the Subarta Probeen Seba Kendra at Baushi area of Barhatta upazila in Netrakona district today. Chaired by president of the Baushi union Awami League (AL) Shamsul Haque, the inaugural function was addressed, among others, by police super Netrakona Joydeb Chowdhory, Chairman of Barhatta upazila parishad Manik Azad, Upazila Nirbahi officer of the Barhatta upazila parishad Farida Yasmin, president of Barhatta upazila AL Azizur Rahman, general secretary Kazi Abdul Wahed and chairman of the Baushi union parishad Sheikh Tareque Habib. Subarta trust, a non profitable organisation, which is consolidated with a trustee board, has established the elderly people care center.
Tk 43 lakh distributed among the distressed

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam MP distributed savings money to the distressed women and men workers who were engaged in Rural Employment and Road Maintenance Program-2 (RRMP). A total of Tk 21 . 68 lakh were distributed among the 59th distressed workers in Charghat Upazila and Tk over 22 lakh taka among 60th distressed workers at Bagha Upazila District of Rajshah. Charghat UNO Ashraful Islam, Bagha UNO Shahin Reza, District Executive Engineer Golam Mostafa, Charghat AL President Anwar Hossain, Secretary Fakrul Islam and Bagha AL Secretary Asraful Islam, Senior Engineer Munsur Huq, Engineer Mozahar Ali and Bagha LGED Engineer Maksud Rhman, Charghat OC (Investigation) Abdul Bari, District AL Senior Member Saiful Islam, Acting Joint Secretary Hasanuzzaman were present.
Certificate distribution ceremony held

Uttoron Project arranged a certificate distribution ceremony for the third-round trainees in Inathganj Union Complex NabiganjUpazila under Habiganj District on Sunday. Bozlur Rashid, Chairman, Inathganj union, was the key moderator of the event. Nurul Islam, ADC (Revenue) Habiganj, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Touhid-Bin-Hassan, Nabiganj, UNO was present as the Special Guest. Representatives from Chevron M Samad Chowdhury, Manager, Government Relations of PGPA; Mr. Abdullah Al Monjur, IEM Superintendent, Mr. Imam Hasan Akan, Assistant Manager, Field Community Engagement & Communications, from Swisscontact Anirban Bhowmik, Country Director- Bangladesh, and Mamunur Rahman, Team Leader, Uttoron Project were also present among others. During the event, certificates were distributed amongst 122 trainees that had completed the motivational workshop under the auspices of the Uttoron project. Uttoron, a three-year skills development project, aims to enhance employment opportunities for 1,400 community members in Sylhet, Moulavibazar and Habiganj districts. Funded by Chevron under its Bangladesh Partnership Initiative (BPI), the projects being implemented by Swiss contact.

To conduct trainings for a portion of the selected candidates, Uttoron has partnered with Skills for Employment Investment Program (SEIP).

Theatre festival begins

A 12-day theatre festival marking the Language Movement started in Kabi Nazrul auditorium in Sylhet city yesterday.Sammilita Natya Parishad, Sylhet is organising the festival. On the first day of the event, Noboshikha Natyadal staged the famous drama ‘Kobor’, written by Munir Choudhury on the Language Movement of 1952.Momin Uddin Bhuiyan Suruj was posthumously awarded e by the parishad during the inaugural ceremony yesterday for his contribution to the theatre.Till March 5, a drama will be staged every evening.
