Medical camp held at Tangail

More than 2500 poor patients received free treatment and necessary medicine at a ‘free medical camp’, held at Hatibandha, Shakhipur Upazilas in Tangail on Wednesday. Kidney Awareness Monitoring and Prevention Society (KAMPS), a voluntary healthcare giving organisation arranged the Free Medical Camp in honor of the language martyred, marking the international mother language day. KAMPS has organised the event as part of its regular annual event for the last 14th consecutive years. A team of more than 20 expert physicians and technologists, led by the renowned Kidney specialist, Chief Consultant, Kidney Department, Lab Aid Specialised Hospital, Dhaka, Prof. Dr. MA Samad, treated the helpless and poor patients of Tangail and nearby area at the daylong camp. Patients received treatment in various diseases including kidney, heart, liver, guyenne, gastro, diabetes, ENT, medicine and skin while more than 100 aged poor eye patients have been enrolled for free cataract surgery. As part of the daylong program, a discussion meeting was held on how to prevent the kidney disease. Former Secretary of the Government, former Chairman of BERC and ACC and presently President of Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB), Golam Rahman attended the discussion as Chief Guest with Chief Adviser of KAMPS, former General Manager of Bangladesh Ban, Md. Abdul Malek in the chaired the programme.
‘Robber’ lynched in Shariatpur
SHARIATPUR: A suspected robber was killed in a lynch-mob attack during a robbery at a house of East Chorosondi village in Sadar upazila early Saturday. The deceased was identified as Kabir Hossain Khan, 40, son of Ansar Ali Khan of Nagerpara village in Gosairhat upazila.Additional Police Super Abdul Hannan said a gang of 10-12 robbers stormed into the house of Mosleh Uddin Howlader in the early hours.Sensing the presence of the bandits, villagers surrounded them and caught Kabir, he said.Later, the angry mob gave him a mass beating and gouged out his both eyes, the additional SP.Police rescued him in a critical condition and took him to the Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries in the morning, said sub-inspector Gulzar Alam of Palong Model Police Station, reports UNB.
Two held with fake Indian currency in C’nawabganj
C’WABGANJ: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two persons with 7, 08,000 fake Indian rupees conducting an overnight drive in a mango orchard at Satrashia village in Shibganj upazila of the district. The arrested persons were identified as Md. Ujjal, 28 and Md. Sujal, 24, the two siblings of Monakasha Housenagar village in Shibganj upazila. RAB officials familiar with the drive said, acting on secret information, an operation team of elite anti-crime force raided the area at around 7.30 pm and arrested the siblings with the fake Indian ruppes. Later the arrestees were handed over to Shibganj police station and a case was filed in this connection, reports BSS.
