BNP leader arrested in Kachua

Azahar Ali Shikdar (50), Vice-president of Kachua Upazila BNP and former Chairman of Gazalia Union under Kachua Upazila in the district was arrested by police on Sunday from his residence in connection with violent activates committed during Jamat-BNP alliance Government (from 2001-2004). In this connection one Kahan Shahidul Islam registered a case with the local PS on May 6, 2014 against him. Police said that BNP leader was absconding for a long. Acting on a secret information that he returned to his residence at Gazalia police raided the residence and arrested him from there. He was already sent to the court.
5 Shibir activists arrested in Bagerhat
Police of Bagerhat Model PS arrested 5 Shibir activists from Sonatala area under Bagerhat Pourashava on Sunday apprehending their sabotage activities in connection with the Hartal called by Jamat-Shibir and BNP. At that time a good number of books on Chatra Shaibir were recovered. They are Faruk Khondokar (25) of village Sundraghona under Bagerhat Sadar Upazila, Shafikul Islam Dakua (18) of Keshabpur Upazila in Jessore district, Idris Shikdar (18) of village Laudob under Dakop Upazila in Khulna district, Md. Zakaria (19) of village Bailtali under Morrelganj Upazila in the district and Safayat Islam (22) of village Dhuligati under the same Upazila. Md. Ali Azam Khan, Officer-in-charge of Bagerhat Model PS disclosed, acting on a secret information some youths of Bagerhat and other districts assembled at Sonatala in order to commit sabotage activities police raided the area and arrested 5 Chatra Shibir activists and recovered some books written on Chatra Shibir from there. They are being interrogated by the police to know the places of their target.
Two killed in road mishaps in Pabna

At least two people were killed in separate road mishaps on Pabna-Chatmohar road of the district on Friday night. The deceased were identified as Firoza Begum, 60, of village Khidirpur in Atghoria upazila and Ashidur Rahman, 35 of village Provakorpara in Chatmohar upazila under the district. Police and the locals said Firoza was going to Dharail village of Chatmohar upazila by a three wheeler Nasiman. When the Nasiman reached at Gaingar point of the road she was fallen from the Nasiman and died on the spot at around 7.300pm. Meanwhile Ashidur Rahman was returning home by a Nasiman. A speedy truck hit his Nasiman left him dead at the same place at around 8.pm.
Top Jamaat leader detained in Pabna
Police arrested Pabna district publicity secretary of Jamaat Moulana Abdur Rouf from his residence at Atua mohallah in the district town early Saturday. Officer-in-charge of Pabna police station Kazi Haniful Islam said a team of police conducted a raid in the house of Abdur Rouf at around 1.00am and arrested him in connection of violence of police on September 17 in the town. He was sent to jail, OC said.
Madrasa principal jailed by mobile court in Kurigram

A mobile court in Kurigram on Saturday sentenced a principal of a Madrasa for ten months imprisonment and fined Tk. five hundred for fake treatment. Sources said Maolana Abdul Kader is a principal of Islampur Fazil Madrasah in Bhogdanga union under Kurigram Sadar Upazila had been treating of mental disorder patients with charms and incantation binding with chain for long. In the Saturday morning, the principal was treating a mental patient in Jugipara village of Bhogdanga union in his fake system. Acting on a tip-off the Executive Magistrate Md Mijanur Rahman with police force raided the village and arrested him red handed. The magistrate formed a mobile court there and handed down the verdict. The accused however sent to jail.
Two arms businessmen held in Dupchanchia

Narcotic Department arrested two arms traders from Choumohony bazar in Dupchanchia upazila of Bogra district recently. The arrested were identified as Saiful Islam Rentu , 35, son of Jamo Pramanik of Dhobla village and Shafiul Islam, 45, son of late Kaser Sheikh of Shektola village under Shibgonj upazila of Chapainawabgonj. Md Moniruzzama Inspector, Narcotic Department said that he led acting on a tip-off a team of the department of Shantahar circle conducted a drive in a Bogra-bound Sarwar Paribahan bus on Friday afternoon.
