Flower Fair begins in Pabna

A ten -day long ‘Puspo Mela’ -2018 began on the premises of the Office of Agriculture Extension Department of Pabna on Tuesday. Deputy Commissioner of Pabna Md. Jashim Uddin chired the inaguration ceremony of the flwer fair whil Zila Parisad Chairman Rezaul Rahim Lal attended as Chief Guest. Additional Police Super of Pabna Goutam Kumer Biswas , AL leader Chandan Kumer Chakravorty attended as special guests. Deputy Director of the AED has gave his welcome speech. Spokesmen said most of the occasion we need flower and it may create an alternative income generating for the small farmers. But have ensured its market. Agriculture Department can take necessary steps for the farmers of flower cultivation in the district. To satisfy the market demand, various flowers, such as chrysanthemum, tuberose, and Gladiolus have been imported from India and orchids, gerbera, anthodium and Thai rose from Thailand every year. Chairman of Zila Parisad Rezaul Rhim Lal said the soil fertility and weather is so favorable for flower cultivation and he requested to the Agriculture Department to encourage farmers for flower farming. We have the information a group of people has created his life financial sustainability by flower farming. The Fair was organised by the Agriculture Department of Pabna. A total of 16 stalls have been set up in the fair.
2 drug traders arrested with Yaba tablets in Fakirhat

Two drug traders were arrested along with 9 pieces Yaba tablets by the police from the village Mowbhog under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district at Monday night. The arrestees are Rabiul, son of one Shadat Shaijh of village Bagmara under Rupsa Upazila in Khulna district and Rasel, son of one Zafar Khan of village Hazrakhali under Kachua Upazila in Bagerhat district. It is learnt from the police hat acting on secret information police of Mowbhog police outpost raided the village at night, arrested the drug traders and recovered the Yaba tablets from their possession. In this connection a case was lodged with Fakirhat Model PS under Narcotics Act (Case No. 18 dated 29-01-2018).
Six get two months jail in Tetulia
PANCHAGARH: A mobile court here on Wednesday convicted six persons and sentenced them two months imprisonment on charge of illegal stone lifting from Dahuk River by diverting water flow of the river. The convicted people are former chairman of Buraburi Union Parishad under Tetulia upazila Kamruzzaman Kamu, and Ziaur Rahman, Alam Hossein, Saiful Islam, Sahiduzzaman, and Rubel Islam of Tetulia. The mobile court, led by Tetulia upazila nirbahi officer Saniul Ferdous, conducted a drive on the river yesterday evening and arrested them with support from police and BGB, reports BSS.
Fishermen fined for catching jatka
JHALAKATI: A mobile court on Wednesday fined three fishermen Tk 5,000 each in Prodhan Bazar of Sadar upazila for selling jatka (hilsa fry less than 9 inches or 23 centimetres in length). The fishermen are-Tuhin Gazi, resident of Nurullapur village in Ponabalia union, Md Zia and Mizanur Rahman, resident of Kalabaghan area of sadar upazila. A mobile court led by executive magistrate Md Bashir Gazi seized the jatka from the bazar around 8:30am and fined the fishermen in connection with the seizure. Later, the jatkas were distributed among the orphanages, reports UNB.
