The annual sports and prize distribution ceremony of Gafargaon Islamia Govt High School and the annual sports and prize distribution ceremony of Khairullah Govt Girls’ High School were held at Gafargaon under Mymensingh on Tuesday. One held with two venomous lizards in Sharankhola

One Harun Hawladar (45) was arrested alongwith two Takkhaks, one kind of venomous lizards from the near Tulakhali bazar of Purbo (East) Khontakata village under Sharankhola Upazila in Bagerhat district on Sunday evening by the police, according to a delayed report received here. The arrestee is the son of one Mazid Hawladar of village Paschim (West) Khontakata under the same Upazila. Md. Kabirul Islam, O/C, Sharankhola PS told the newsmen, acting on secret information about the smuggling of Takkhks a police squad led by SI Shafikul laid in ambush near Tulakhali Bazar in the evening and at about 8 pm caught Harun Hawladar along with 2 Takkhks kept in a cage made of plastic wires while he was passing away the area in order to smuggle the lizards. The recovered lizards are 14 inches in length and their market price is at least Tk.4 lakhs, it was disclosed by the police. In this connection a case was registered with the PS against the arrestee smuggler. He was sent to the court at Bagerhat. The recovered lizards will be handed over to the forest department, according to the decision of the court.
Hijacker arrested in Fakirhat
A leader of the syndicate of hijackers was caught red handed and handed over to the police after he was gang beaten. The incident was taken place at Town Noapara within Piljanga Union under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district on Monday evening. Easy bike driver Eadul Sardar, son of one late Motiar Rahaman Sardar of village Sardar Para within the same Union disclosed, in the afternoon Emdadul (45), son of one late Jamal of village Chaltetala under Kalia Upazila in Narail district, Mamun (43), son of one Mijibor Rahman of Kola bazar area under Ddigholia Upazila in Khulna district and Shahin Shaikh (40) of the same area introduced themselves as Sub-Inspectors (SIs) of Rupsa PS (in Khulna district) and hired my easy bike and moved from one place to another within Fakirhat Upazila and at last they reached a lonely place near Noapara town. Then they asked me to go away to a distant place in the plea talking confidential matters with ‘Bara Saheb.’
As soon as I left the place they tried to flee away taking the easy bike. Then I driver made a hue and cry. On hearing the cry local people rushed to the spot caught the said SI Emadaddul red-handed. But the so-called 2 other SIs managed to flee away by a motor cycle. Later the hijacker was handed over to SI Kamruzzaman of Fakirhat Model PS through Piljanga UP Chairman Khan Shamim Zaman Palas.
