Catalan separatists agree deal to re-elect Puigdemont

 Catalonia’s main separatist parties said Wednesday they have agreed to re-elect fugitive Carles Puigdemont as president of the region later this month, although how to make that legally possible is still up in the air.
Puigdemont, who has been in Brussels since he was sacked in October over an attempt to secede from Spain, faces immediate arrest if he returns home.

Two Reuters reporters due in court in Myanmar

Two Reuters journalists detained in Myanmar are due to appear in court on Wednesday, when prosecutors could request that charges be filed against them over an accusation they broke the country’s Official Secrets Act.
Wa Lone, 31, and Kyaw Soe Oo, 27, had worked on Reuters coverage of a crisis in the western state of Rakhine, where – according to U.N. estimates – about 655,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled from a fierce military crackdown on militants.

Turkey, US relations may deteriorate

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Wednesday that relations with the United States were harmed by Washington’s refusal to extradite cleric Fetullah Gulen and its provision of arms to the Kurdish militant YPG.
Speaking to the state-run Anadolu Agency, Cavusoglu said that ties between the NATO allies could be harmed further if Washington does not correct its mistakes.

Heavy snowfall in Swiss Alps

Heavy snowfall has cut off many villages and resorts across the Alps, trapping some 13,000 tourists at Zermatt, one of Switzerland’s most popular ski stations, officials said on Tuesday.
Helicopters spent two hours airlifting some of those stranded to nearby villages, while others remained stuck in the resort for a second day running after snow blocked road and rail links.

Indian capital on alert of Swine Flu

Xinhua, New delhi

 The local government in Indian capital Delhi has issued an advisory with regard to prevention of seasonal influenza swine flu, officials said Wednesday.
In its advisory, the government said swine flu is also a type of seasonal influenza and is a self- limiting viral disease.
As per advisory publicised through state media in case of mild fever with sore throat with or without body ache, headache, diarrhoea and vomiting, the patient neither requires oseltamivir nor testing.
