Nilphamari Crafts,Commerce Fair begins

 The inauguration of Crafts and Commerce Fair 2017 held at Nilphamari Pouro Math on Saturday. Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor inaugurated the Fair as the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest in his speech encouraged the people of this area to be the entrepreneur. He also said the stall of the entrepreneurs keeps maximum importance in a fair otherwise the fair turns just into a market only with many shops. The Chief Guest wished to see more and more entrepreneurs in the next fair of next year. District commissioner Md. Khaled Rahim, District Council Chairman Janab Joynal Abedin, Superintendent of Police Md. Zakir Khan, Mayor of Nilphamari Municipality Md. Dewan Kamal Ahmedm, General Secretary of District Awami League Advocate Momtazul Haq, President of Awami League Advocate Alimuddin Bosunia, Chairman of Sadar Upazila parishad Abuzar Rahman and others delivered their valuable speech as the Special Guest of the Inauguration ceremony. The president of Nilphamari Chamber of Commerce and Industry Md. Maruf Zaman Koel presided over the program. Md. Farhanul Haq was the Convener of the ceremony. The Crafts and Commerce Fair is arranged by Nilphamari Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The duration of the Fair is one month.

Expectant woman dies over wrong treatment

CHANDPUR: An expectant young woman died at a private clinic in Kachua upazila headquarters on Monday evening due to the wrong treatment of an on-duty doctor.The deceased was identified as Salma Begum, 28, wife of Md Jakir Hossain of Kajkamata village of the upazila. Family sources said that Salma was admitted to Modern Hospital in Biswa Road area in the afternoon as she was feeling acute labour pain. Her family members claimed that she fell unconscious as she was pushed an injection following an advice of an on-duty doctor. Later, doctors declared her dead at 7:00 pm. Being angered over the death incident, the family members gathered at the clinic and besieged it at night. On information, police rushed in and brought the situation under control, said Mahbubur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Kachua Police Station, reports UNB.

Housewife hangs herself in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI: A housewife committed suicide by hanging herself with a rope at her house in Sonaray union of Domar upazila early Saturday over family feud. The deceased was identified as Pabitra Rani, 25, wife of Pradip Chandra, a resident of the upazila.Ibrahim Khalil, officer-in-charge of Domar Police Station, said Pabitra Rani killed herself over quarrel with her husband. Police recovered the body on Saturday noon and sent it to morgue for autopsy, reports UNB.

Project progress meeting held in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA: A project progress meeting was held here recently with a call to disseminate modern jute extraction technology to grass root level farmers. RDRS Bangladesh, a reputed NGO, arranged the meeting under the project of Securing Employment and Economic Development and Jute Textile and Light Engineering Sector in North West Bangladesh with the financial support of European Commission and Practical Action Bangladesh.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Gautam Chandra Pal addressed the function as the chief guest and deputy director of local government section of DC office M. Shafiqul Islam, additional deputy commissioner (General) Mohammad Mizanur Rahman and additional police super Abdullah Al Faruk were present as the special guests. With deputy director of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) AKM Ruhul Amin in the chair, the meeting was also addressed, among others, by chief jute inspector Mokbul Hossain, vocational education and job placement specialist M. Rafiqul Islam, agriculture and environment coordinator of RDRS Bangladesh Mamunur Rashid, district coordinator (Light engineer) Uzzal Kumar Kar and journalist Sarker M. Shahiduzzaman. The speakers underscored the need for introducing the modern jute extraction technology to the farmers without delay to get quality jute fibre, reports BSS.
